Don't get the pies mixed up

Vince hasn’t been too well the last week or so and I’ve been back doing the cooking. I made what I’d probably call ‘pot pies’, if I had to name them. They are just minced beef (ground beef) cooked in gravy with peas, carrots and corn and enclosed in pastry.
Vince goes to a lot of trouble with presenting his meals so I thought I should make the extra effort with these. Can you see the ‘J’ and ‘V’ on the top of each pie? I was quite pleased with my effort.

Yes, I see the initials... One might think you put something 'special' in the V...

@Tampa_girl7 Honestly who would bother with making your own pastry when you can buy it ready-made. I remember making puff pastry at school. We had to fold it a particular way, roll it out, add little bits of butter, fold it again, etc, etc. What a performance!

@LindaOHio He actually went for a short walk today and seems to be a bit better. He is still taking Panadol for the headaches but he does seem a bit happier. Thanks for asking.

@Happy2BeMe He has what's called 'dry socket'. He saw the dentist today and goes again Monday but it's definitely improving. Thanks for the good wishes.

@JudyEv Funny story..I was looking at the pics of your pies and I had to get one to eat today. I was mad though because it said 450 calories on the front of the pie..but on the back it said 900 something... Apparently the 450 was for half a pie..Argh. Guess who will be eating it over two meals?

@snowy22315 I often have a Cup-A-Soup for lunch. I actually looked at the packet today and a serve was 80 calories so I thought that was pretty good. I hope you enjoyed your half pie.

I like those. Do you have turkey as well?

That's so sweet of you to take care of Vince and his meals! Your "pot pies" sound delicious, and the personalized pastry cutouts are a lovely touch. I'm sure Vince will appreciate the extra effort you put in, both in cooking and presentation!

@JudyEv Good that you both enjoyed them .Many a times the yummy things on our plate are not the healthiest ones. But then they do bring joy. It's okay to indulge in such joys from time to time and not feel guilty

That’s good! Hope they tasted as good as they look. I also hope that Vince is feeling better quickly. We have too many sick husbands on myLot right now.

Thanks. Luckily we're not needing to do anything other than sit around and wait for him to get well.

I bet they were delicious, and they are cute, too.
I hope your Vince is feeling better now.
I make chicken or turkey pot pie as well as a pie with ground beef, sometimes. But usually, I make it in a pie pan or a long pan, as the family seems to just scarf it all up fairly quickly.

@MarieCoyle When I was growing we had mashed potatoes just about every day with whatever meat we were having.

We had a Shepherd's pie this past week here as well. My son asked me to make it, and I hadn't for some time, so I did. He says it's best when the mashed potatoes are piled high! He loves mashed potatoes.

Looks yummy. Yes, I can see clearly the 'J' and 'V' on top of each pie.
