This is what the planning stage of our summer vacations and camping trips look like. We generally set up the dates, and then figure out the "financial details," which is my job. We are planning a trip to Wisconsin to visit with her cousins in April and we also have a camping trip to dewinterize planned. Then another trip with the camper in May with some family. June she will do her annual gambling trip with her cousin. And we are planning other camping trips and a trip to Myrtle Beach in August/September. My job is simple. Pay for it with no money out of pocket. The stock market will pay for all of it. So, while the planning is done, I have to work out the details of how it all gets paid for. I have to find $5,200. I will find it. But man, this is a task. lol Wish me luck. I have some options contracts I am looking at that should more than cover the costs we will incur. But it's not always a given. I have to make sure I do this right, and even though I am very good at what I do, sometimes I DO get it wrong.

I usually do. Sometimes it actually works out better than expected which is always a plus, of course.

I always say, the key to money is building wealth, not just collecting paychecks that ultimately only ever get spent.

@porwest ,in my opinion, collecting is as important as building,a person needs both building and collecting, then increase wealth.

If you can take out that kind of money from a hat, then I must invite you to visit my country. You can have free lodgings at my house and can rent a camper to go to the south. We have beautiful forests and farther south the icy south pole. And there are some places where you can gamble too. I would not take you there though. As Im a gambler, I set a limit and I donĀ“t go to casinos in my country.

@porwest Absolutely, there is a time to work but also a time to rest and enjoy our time.

@LadyDuck That has always been the main goal of my life. Never to have to work until I can't work anymore and then have to sit around staring at the four walls.

Gotta have some down time and a reason to enjoy the fruits of our labors, as I like to say. Helps keep life worth living.

Thank you. We always make the most out of our trips. It should be a good time. Makes for busy summers, but I am okay with that.

Have you considered what the GAS is going to cost you? I know that has to be the top of the list right? if not it should be. We're thinking about a short trip to KY maybe this yr not sure yet.

I consider all costs, especially the gas when pulling the camper. I average about 9 miles to the gallon with that thing behind us.

All your upcoming trips sound like fun. Being the financial wizard that you are I'm sure you'll figure out the $$$ part.

But of course. At least that's the plan. Doesn't mean I never make mistakes, though. If I were more of a financial wizard I'd be bouncing someone off the #1 spot of the world's richest list. lol

It does make things more fun. Not that making money isn't already fun, but finding more to add what you need for the variables is even more fun.

I hope you will be able to relax and have a good time and not worry so much about the budget. Leave some wiggle room! Have a good day.

@porwest Don't take the fun out of traveling by worrying about "getting it all back".

@LindaOHio I never consider money spent. I consider it simply borrowed. It all has to come back. Every single penny.

I always like to leave a LOT of wiggle room. Perhaps sometimes I give myself a little too much which just means I have to spend more time in the markets getting it all back. lol

The key for me is you want to have fun, not affect the bottom line, and not have to worry about the money so you can have the fun you want rather than be slightly limited by what you have to work with.
