In the slow cooker

I have a recipe for no sugar added apple butter. I like apple butter and this is easy peasy.
Often the grocer will have marked down bags of produce. I have gotten some really huge apples lately.
You do not even peel the apples, just core them, cut off any bad spots. Put them in the slow cooker with 1/4 C water, and 1/4 apple cider vinegar. Add spices to your taste. I do not remember how much I added last time. I will start with 1 Tbsp. pie spice.
Since these are some of the sweeter varieties of apples, the apple butter will be just right.
When the apples are all mushy I will use my immersion blender and blend them until they are all smooth. I will likely waterbath can some of it to have for later on.
My apples fill my 6 quart crock pot and I spent less than $4 for them.
The house smells delicious while they are cooking.

I do the same with blueberry butter. I use it on top of roasted pork.

I can just imagine that smell. I'm not familiar with apple butter. How do you use it? On toast? Ice-cream?

I made apple butter last fall, and we canned it. So good on biscuits and pancakes and toast. Both my sons love apple butter.
