I just watched a hawk swoop down on something in the yard. I didn't see it fly away with anything though. I was half hoping it was the squirrel who seems to be doing some sort of construction project on the porch. I am going to have to investigate. I don't want it building a nest there . I already had that with birds one time, that made a nest on top of an old bug zapper! That was a pain in the butt..every time I opened the door at night it would startle them and they would fly around in a panic. I was afraid one would get in the house or in my face. Once all the babies left..I took that bug zapper down. what's happening in your world today?

I have a couple of hawks that visit my backyard sometimes looking for birds. But one time the hawk spotted a squirrel instead and swooped in and grabbed it with its claws. Picked it right up and flew away with the squirrel dangling lifelessly. I'm not fond of those pesky rodents, so I was happy to witness it.

Yes, I never got to see what it picked up. I like the squirrels, but the one on the porch his hangout seems to be a bit of a nuisance. The cat finds him very entertaining however.

@dgobucks226 Oh he talks tough from behind the glass..but I think I. an actual combat situation..he might run the other way..a brave kitty he is not..

@snowy22315 Luckily, one of the two people who we didn't know well but who ended up on our table was a whiz. We came 6 out of 12. If not for him, I'm sure we would have been last.

Not really, unless they poop. These fortunately did not do that on the porch

@snowy22315 That is good, small birds do not poop too much, the doves made a nest on a beam under the roof, I had to clean the upper balcony every day.

Hope you don't have a squirrel making itself a home on your porch. They can really be a nuisance

The hawk was after something. The birds that built a nest there at one point were some very little brown non descript birds maybe some verson of sparrow. I wish they would have been pretty.

Good morning.
I remember destroying a birds nest on a tree in our compound at the rural home. I was young and curious. The nest had many small baby birds and I regretted tearing down the nest.
