Some people in my country cook legumes every Monday and it is also washing day. I have never done that but Dixie has this kind of routines.
I suppose that legumes used to be eaten on Monday many years ago when butchers did not work on weekends and there were no freezers. I do know that still now, I would not buy fresh fish on a Monday.
As for washing clothes, I check the weather and then I ask Juanita if she´ll oblige. I gave my dryer away many years ago and have never repented.
Dixie made the most delicious lentils today. I don´t make tham as she does but I wished for a while that she had offered me seconds. As it is I´m full but I did want that flavor to stay in my mouth forever.
What is your favorite legume?

Today Humberto bought and brought home a ready roasted chicken. We both said aloud that the chicken was fine but that the lentils were much better.

They are very easy to make. My black bean recipe is harder but it is worth the trouble.

@marguicha My beans are pretty basic when it comes to spices. We eat some kind of bean many days of the week.

I love red lentils.
What spices to you put Marguicha?
I also like the split peas with bacon in them.

I make them in different ways. But most of the people here add sausage while I don´t. I just fry onion with some garlic and a bit of smoked ground chili pepper. When I have leftover cooked rice I add some too.

I don´t buy fish on Monday either but I wash depending on how many dirty clothes I have and if the sun will come out ( I don´t have a dryer)

@marguicha - My washing machine can also dry, but drying is expensive as it consumes a lot of electricity.

We Indians make legumes which we call dal almost everyday. In a vegetarian diet it is rich in protein.

I think pinto beans are the favorite here, but I am so glad you posted as I have taken a container of lentils out of the freezer with the intention of packing them in my lunches this week, but I had forgotten. You solved my problem about what I would eat tomorrow.

I love pinto beans but the outer part does not agree with my tummy. I have to cook them and then sieve them.

The only legumes I can´t eat are dry beans as the skin does not agree with me. But even then there are some beans that I can eat, such as black beans.

I soak legumes once in a while and cook them with no spices. I then freeze them in servings for easy meals when I don´t want to cook much.

Peanuts are technically a legume. It would have to be them.

I like lentils a lot. I would make them more but my husband and son are not as excited about them as I am.

I love lentils. I usually soak and cook a whole kilo in the pressure cooker and then I separate them in servings for two. I only fix the ones I´ll be eating during the day. I freeze the rest just cooked.

The only legumes I don´t like much are peas in soups. I ate a lot of them when I was young, but now I don´t like them at all.
