Monday Morning Brief and Sunday Update

Good morning from chilly, cloudy Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA. Currently, it's 36 F. I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter yesterday, if you celebrated. Yesterday started out great. Church was fun. I took the basket of eggs for the kids and ended up taking them out to the egg hunt so they could get their egg along with all the other eggs they got during the Easter egg hunt. I figured it about right. I took 36 and came home with 8. The sermon was good and I did the counting after church before I joined the kids outside. Before I left for church, I preheated the oven. I asked Alexa how long to roast the lamb. Then waited about 20 minutes before putting it in the oven. Then I had a meltdown. I planned on making deviled eggs. The eggs didn't peel well, so I made egg salad instead. When I went to check on the potatoes, they hadn't started to cook. I turned on the wrong burner. I got that straightened out, started the yams for the sweet potato pie, and cut up the asparagus. My meltdown came when I was almost ready to take the lamb from the oven and nothing else was ready and I didn't know where I was going to put the lamb because the burners were hot. Nothing seemed to be going right at that moment and I didn't know how I was going to pull it off. I called my son to tell him to come NOW. Of course he couldn't, but would soon. I took a breath, turned the asparagus on high, turned off the oven, another thing I thought I had messed up. I was to start it at 450 and turn it down to 325 an hour into roasting. I remembered that forty-five minutes before it was done. It's also why I turned off the oven before the alarm went off. I took the grill off the counter and stuck it in my bedroom to give me room for the lamb. The potatoes were done. The asparagus was almost done and the sweet potato pie was ready to go into the oven. Everything turned out perfect and was done at the same time. On the table you can see all the food and my son and his girlfriend. I made the strawberries for strawberry shortcake as soon as I got home from church. I thought I waited too long for that, but it turned out perfect too. My son's girlfriend brought the fruit and fruit salad. After letting everything settle for a little while and chit chatting at the table, the time came for them to leave. It was a very good day with a minor meltdown. My friend the Easter Bunny came by. She brought me a wonderful gift, which she has in her possession for a moment. She gave me a village piece. I tried to get the light out of it, but couldn't. So she took it back to her place to get it out. She'll bring it back today. She also told me she hid eggs all over the building and couldn't believe nobody found them. I had looked outside when I got home. I then went on an Easter egg hunt through the building, got a lot of steps, and a good amount of eggs. I have a total of 17 eggs. I won't go out to look for more. The party is tomorrow when we get to open the special eggs and see what the prize is. I tried to watch King of Kings, a movie I watch every Easter, but I was too tired to watch the whole thing. I'll finish watching it today. So, that was yesterday. A very good day. Today's plans are simple and not as hectic. I have the white tablecloth and lace covering in the dryer. I had some bleach, so I'm hoping the strawberry stains come out. I'll also work on a book today, do the health report, and work on another country. Armenia is next. I'm also meeting a gentleman in the community room this morning. He's going to take books for the VA. When that's done and the party tomorrow, I imagine the work will begin in the community room. It was supposed to be locked. We'll see if it happens. In the meantime, everyone knows it's closed until July. So, that's my plans for the day and the Sunday update. How's your day going? Thanks for reading. The image belongs to me.

It is horrible when you have to cook different kind of food and you get into panic mode. I have been there many times. Well, finally everything went well and you had a perfect table well set with a lot of good food.

@just4him - We had a very quiet Easter, a simple meal, but we enjoyed. I remember my first holiday meltdown, it was a few days after we got married, we invited our parents, grandparents, my brother and a cousin of my husband to celebrate New Years's Eve together. We were a group of 12 people and I had never cooked for a party before. I was very stressed, but my husband helped and it went well.

Glad you pulled off everything despite the minor meltdown. I have never eaten leg if lamb. I was able to make everything in the microwave..so it wasn't too much stress.Between Easter leftovers and the ham and bean soup. I plan to make today..I will have lots of food for the week..until I get tired of eating the same things anyway. It sounds like your Easter was good. Do you play the organ?

@just4him Good! My grandparents had a piano like that. We used to like to play around it..but it needed a major tune up.

@snowy22315 I was at my grandparent's home the day the organ arrived. I played it a lot back in the day. There were books with the keys on them so I could play it. I probably have all those books in the music that came with the organ.

I can play it a little. The organ belonged to my grandparents and needs a major tune-up and restoration. Thank you. The day turned out perfect.

You had a busy yet wonderful Easter. The idea of the eggs with the children at church was so generous, I am sure that the children will remember that for years to come. congratulations on finding so many eggs, 17 is alot.

The kids were more interested in the eggs with the jellybeans and candy in them. I might not do eggs again next year. We'll see. Thank you. I'm glad I found them too.

@just4him That is a great idea. Our daughter-in-law takes the little plastic eggs and opens them and puts some cheerios and fishies into them for snacks for the twins. They woke to a trail of those from their bedroom down to the family room where the rest of what the Easter bunny had left them was waiting.

Oh! I have been there with similar kind of meltdown in kitchen once when I had a huge gathering at home. But things turned out perfectly well in time. I am glad that it was so for you too. That's a nice spread on the table and everything looks so nice and yummy in the picture It's Tuesday afternoon here. I have done enough chores for the first half of the day. I plan to be here till lunch and later do some more bit of cleaning and arrangements around house.

I'm glad your dinner turned out perfectly too after your meltdown. Thank you. There's one dish not on the table yet. It was still in the oven, the sweet potato pie. Have a good day with your plans too.

You did a lot! I have been sick since this morning. I tried to take medication this morning, and threw it back up. It’s a mental thing, I know it, having taken so many pills for so long. Occasionally, this happens. But, I am feeling a tad better now, and am charging my phone and flashlight. We will have severe storms in a few hours, and I want to be prepared. If you remember, please say a prayer for our safety here.

I also panic when I'm doing a big cooking and things don't go quite as expected. Glad it all turned out okay and you had a nice Easter dinner with your son and his girlfriend. My Easter was nice especially since all the family was together. As usual I had too much food but I guess it's better to have too much than not enough. Hope you have a good Monday. It's raining here and I have no specific plans for today. I'm tired from having company yesterday.

I'm glad you could all get together. I know it was impossible for Christmas, so this makes up for it. I'm glad you have lots of leftovers. It's going well so far today. I'm tired too after yesterday.
