Will you be watching the solar eclipse?

Today is the solar eclipse. Hubby tried to get those special glasses but everywhere he went they were either out of them or never had them in the first place. He said you can’t look at it without those glasses or it can ruin your eyesight. Even if you put on sunglasses it is not good. I guess I will not be watching it. But what if I glance at it through my window, if it will even be visible?

You might notice the sky getting darker. I can only watch it on a screen, here the sun went down before the moon could hug it.

Here in NYC, we will not see the entire thing. Maybe I can find a live broadcast of it online somewhere.

You can look through your window, just do not look at the sun.

@lovebuglena You can only see the day turn into night for a while.

I tried that but didn’t really see anything that would indicate a solar eclipse.

I didn’t bother trying to get a good look, especially since I didn’t bother with glasses. I mean, it’s cool, but it just didn’t excite me at all.

Wish I had seen it with my own eyes but the live feed on YouTube was the next best thing.

My mother made me a cereal box viewer. We only had 80% and we had cloud cover. But I did get to see some of it once I got hang of the viewer.

That’s nice that the cereal box thing worked.

You should notice everything getting darker even if you can't look at the sun. At school, we put our backs to the sun, held our blazes open and got crescent shapes on the ground through the buttonholes. Not sure if it was really the eclipse shape we were seeing.

Yes, I found an old pair of eclipse glasses that I forgot I had. So far at the moment, it is cool to see.

I read online just now that it is not good to wear old glasses.

I tried to do a DIY to see it because I didn't have the glasses, but it didn't work. So, I didn't see it either.

@lovebuglena I made a viewer out of a cereal box according to the instructions, but it didn't work for me.

What were you trying to do? I saw on the news a lady made a box and put it over her head. She didn’t make the actual box. She just did something to it to be able to look at the eclipse.

I watched the extended coverage on the Weather Channel. They had people in the path of totality from Texas to the northeast. I didn't have any special glasses.

I watched some live feeds on YouTube of it. Not the same thing but still nice to see.
