Hello mylotters. I hope that you are doing great in your myLot corner. It's 10:45 PM and I am in my bed past my bedtime. I am feeling a little unwell in the last two days. And most of my time has gone in relaxing and taking naps. Right now, I am feeling pretty okay. And since I have been sleeping a lot in the last two days, I am wide awake and feeling fresh to be here. I had no appetite in the last two days and just managed to eat a bit and drink a lot of fluids to keep myself well hydrated. Today in the afternoon, I suddenly got a craving to eat something yummy and spicy. I discussed it with my daughters and we planned to have egg fried rice with loads of veggies. There were enough veggies in my home and I could use them. . But then my elder daughter would not eat sweet corn. And she did not want eggs in her rice. So, we ended up making fried rice for her with all veggies except corn and make her omelette with onions and green chillies as a side dish. And then the plan changed. We all wanted omelette as side dish. . So, I fried the rest of the rice for husband, myself and my younger daughter. We added corn to ours along with other veggies ( mushroom, onion, tomatoes, green capsicum, yellow capsicum, red capsicum, spring onion , garlic, ginger, green chillies, mint leaves and coriander leaves). That added a lot of colours to my plate and I love it that way. That's our dinner that you see in the picture..it was yummy, healthy, filling and best of all quick to make . I could really eat well after two days of feeling sick and finding everything tasteless. There is a lot to catch up here. I will move on to reading your posts and responding to them till I feel sleepy. Take care. Hope that everyone enjoyed their meals. Feel free to share with us about your last meal

@arunima25 Coming from Northeast India region we somewhat don't have breakfast concept. Our breakfast are seems to be direct brunch by 7-8 and dinner only though and tea and biscuits were taken in the morning

Oh! This is quite heavy for our standards. We could eat this because we didn't eat much in the day time as I couldn't cook an elaborate meal. For our family, breakfast is the heaviest meal and dinner the lightest. On most days, we will manage with leftovers from day time or just some breakfast item like upma, besan chilka etc

@psanasangma I think that it was practice throughout India. That's the traditional way. We always had two meals in all Indian cultures. I remember my grandparents and parents having a heavy brunch around 9:30 and then have early dinner at 7. In between they will have some fruits, home made snacks etc in the afternoon around 4.

Getting well after sickness is such a good feeling! We just had Tea and snacks some time back. Of late, we have been having outside food more and need to reduce. Did you had Flu? Here we are battling 43 C plus mercury. Not sure if it is 40 C plus in Bengaluru. And we had Rice and Rajma (Kidney Beans) in the Afternoon. Have a nice time.

@arunima25 Rajma Chawal is one of our favorites too! Add to it, I also have a liking for Poori amd Rajma ! The heat has subsided a bit, but a bit sad about the election results although there are positives and hard lessons. The biggest are never to take voters for granted and local issues, poverty, unemployment etc matter a lot. Yet all of that could make for separate discussions. Yet after one of my 2019 political discussions, I avoid them. That one had got super polarized and in fact, a few people even got close to an "almost" fight !

@arunima25 Coalition would mean bargain. More populist decisions could lead to fiscal slippage. Yet slowdown in reforms won't be good for the country. On the positive side, the ruling party should aim to mend its ways in certain one sided decisions and shed some arrogance. I know the opposition is not good but sometimes they are made to look more evil than what they are. And not everyone in the ruling alliance is a saint.

Yes, indeed it is. The worst thing about sickness is loss of appetite and taste. It was not flu, just maybe because of weather change or too much travel and fun and outside food going on for some time. There comes a phase when you end up eating outside food more frequently. Better to come back to track soon. The weather has become cool here. It's around 32 degrees these days and even lower. I talk to my brother and mom regularly. The heat there is making them feel sick. I am going to soak rajma now for tomorrow's lunch. My elder daughter is here for holidays. Rajma chawal is her favourite.

This was a versatile meal that satisfied everyone's appetite! I'm sorry you felt bad, for two days. I have days like this too, but not often. With my stomach, I have simple issues that baking soda will alleviate. About 1/2 tsp, followed by a little warm water. This works every time! I love corn, but can't eat it any more. I developed an allergy to corn.

It was some sort of seasonal allergy and it took it's own sweet time of two to three days to go off. I am feeling all okay now. I am glad that we all enjoyed the meal together. Even I was happy to be able to taste yummy meal after two days of no appetite and no taste. Baking soda is an old home remedy and it's quite effective. My elder daughter used to like corn as a toddler. But slowly she started having stomach ache as soon as she ate it.

I wonder your eldest doesn't want sweet corn. Sweet corn is my favorite - I add more amount on my fried rice If I make one.

Sweet corn is everyone's favourite in my family. We love it. Even my elder one loves the taste. But she has to avoid it as it doesn't go well with her system. She develops some sort of allergy like severe stomach ache and nausea.

Thank you. It was yummy. I was glad that I could taste a meal after two days of feeling sick. It's really annoying the way a slight sickness can affect your appetite and your taste buds. Yes, we have to force ourselves to eat a bit to keep up with the energy.

Food is such a simple thing, one easily taken for granted by most people in most circumstances, but the minute anything robs us of being able to taste, we miss it so much. I'm glad you are feeling better.
