A chocolate on the pillow

MyLotter @LadyDuck commented that she likes a particular chocolate which is filled with a cherry and cherry liquor. Whenever we have guests who stay overnight, I put a chocolate on their pillow. We regularly stay a night with Vince’s brother and he just as regularly stays with us. We always do the chocolate thing. He puts one on both our pillows but I always ask him how come I got two chocolates and Vince didn’t get any. It’s just a joke between us. The photo shows Vince’s ‘hospital bed’ which we bought before he went into hospital. My friend made me the lovely quilt. The bed will tilt up to make Vince more comfortable sleeping on his back. We must have known something when we bought the Murphy bed to the left of the photo. It’s a queen size but folds up against the wall so there is room for the king-size single.

That is such a sweet gesture. Anna, and you, are both very gracious hosts. The quilt is really lovely, but I am sure that you will enjoy it all the more when you have Vince home under it as he heals and recuperates, regardless of how many chocolates you need to put out.

The room is all ready. It just needs Vince in that bed and I'll be happy.

@JudyEv - Doing things for other people, even something as treating them to a little chocolate on their pillow, almost always makes us feel better. When we do things for others, we are also benefiting ourself.

When I was in the Philippines, I came across a box of cherry chocolate at a dollar store. Yes, there is a Dollar Store in the Philippines. I am not into sweets but the cherry chocolate was so exquisite.

I love Lindt chocolates too but the cherry ones are probably even better.

He's now had four nights in ICU but it's just a matter of tweaking a few things - electrical signals not getting through from one heart chamber to another. I'm sure we'll get there in the end. Thanks for asking. I hope you're doing okay too.

@thislittlepennyearns Thanks April. He did seem to have improved today. We know it's going to be a long, slow process.

@JudyEv He (and you) are in my thoughts. I hope he continues to improve and they get everything worked out so he can come home. I know I heal better at home than at the hospital. I am doing okay. Good days and bad days. But the last couple have been pretty good.

That is sweet Judy and I always did the same when I had guests, I placed a small chocolate on the pillow in the guest room. NOT one filled with liquor, if they cut in half with their teeth the liquor spills on the bed.

@JudyEv I also buy the small Lindt chocolates with wrapping showing Swiss landscapes. Those very small "chocolate bars" are called Neapolitains. The name originates from a gift that was made by Louis XVIII in 1819 to Marie-Caroline of Bourbon, a princess from Naples. Each rectangle of chocolate was wrapped individually and featured a view of Naples.

The head and/or foot of the bed can be lifted. He sleeps easier with the head raised.

Chocolate on the pillow is a nice gesture. I've stayed at hotels that do the same. I always enjoyed the chocolate. I'm sure Vince will appreciate the chocolate when he gets home. The quilt is lovely.

The bed is one of those where you can raise the head and/or the foot. He has to sleep on his back for a while so he'll be more comfortable with the head of the bed raised up a little.
