I got my hug from Ava this afternoon!

Ava is my piano student who didn't give me a hug after that one lesson (about two months ago) where she was almost in tears. I think she was feeling too much pressure from me and her daddy. I got back on track, teaching her with a mixture of letters and "grown-up" notes every since. She looks happy, and I have gotten my hugs after each lesson since that fateful day. Today I taught her to play Mary Had a Little Lamb with both hands. I wrote a harmony part for the left hand that sounds really pretty. She was delighted with it and played it several times. Today's lesson was a make-up for when I was in Chicago and had to miss our Saturday lesson. I will see Ava again tomorrow. I wonder if she will get to practice tonight. Do you think she will?

That's great you got your hug. I often had to make up lessons for various reasons.

@TheHorse As a teacher. You didn't miss too many lessons when your teacher is a strict, if nice, nun.

@kareng Heh. She lost the piece of paper we wrote it on! Her dad said she was desperate looking for it. But she rallied for our lesson. I rewrote our piece, and we worked on it, as well as other stuff.

Children don't complain much about teachers who don't bathe for most of the month.

You are mean. Putting little kids under pressure is soooooooooooooooo bad... So glad she showed you she was not pleased back then. Hope you learned to behave yourself. Kidding. Glad she has come around. I have a few English doubts in Judy Evans posts. Should I ask you here?

What will you ask me. I never fully trust the English of people who are worried about falling off of the earth and into the sky.

@vandana7 I encourage my kids to pay a piece as close to "right" as they can, and then to be "creative" on the side.
