We knew we would be away from home all day today. Bob had a treatment at 8:15. In that same town I needed to pick up one of my regular prescriptions plus the antibiotic my doctor ordered. In another town Bob had a urology check up at the VA. I was going to pack food from home, but my brain is just too muddled from waking up with headaches everyday. Today was better, but still rough. We fill our prescriptions in a pharmacy in our grocery store, so I did some shopping. I got some things I needed, and some things to have a picnic. Not counting the prescriptions, which are on a different bill, I spent about the same amount as I would have spent for two fast food meals, or about that. We had sandwiches on our regular whole wheat bread. They were filled with savory roasted chicken salad. We put spinach leaves in them for greens. We had chips, cookies, iced coffee and clementines for a very tasty and filling picnic meal at a rest stop between the two towns. After the second appointment (scheduled for 2:30) I did a stock up shop at Aldi. We came home, put the perishables away and had salads made of spinach, chicken salad, tomatoes shredded cheddar and sunflower kernels. And more cookies, and coffee. Also good. One reason I spent so little is that almost everything I bought was marked down for quick sale, or was on an advertised sale. Except for the chips. They were store brand. So that was two meals for two people for a total of four meals. The cost was under $30. Honestly less than that, because I have about fifteen dollars worth of groceries left to be added to my larder. I got a full pound of baby spinach leaves for $2. We barely put a dent in that today. That is a sample of the kinds of bargains I buy.

I'm glad you found such good bargains. We had our first five potatoes from the garden and they were so good. Still having headaches? I'm praying for you. Will your PCP have to refer you to a Neurologist? Keep us posted.

One lunch eaten out for 2 people is expensive, no matter where you go for it. A big plus is that you ate a lot healthier than you would have at a fast food place, too. Plus, you have groceries to eat later. I would say you did great!
