Are you more of a coffee drinker, or do you prefer tea? I drink both, but for a hot beverage I'm more of a coffee drinker. I do like my late afternoon hot tea, usually decaf, almost exclusively during the cold winter season. However, I do drink cold tea all year long.
***WHICH DO PREFER AND WHY?
-For me, Coffee acts as a stimulant pick me up in the morning, a must have. Hot tea on the other hand, I find very relaxing and calming, maybe because I drink decaffeinated, and it goes great with cookies or other baked goods.
***WHAT ARE FAVORITE COFFEE AND TEA BRANDS?
-I enjoy Maxwell House Coffee and Earl Grey Tea. When making cold tea though, I go with Bromley. How about you?
***HOW MANY CUPS OF COFFEE OR TEA DO YOU DRINK EACH DAY?
-I drink 3 cups of coffee daily.
***DID YOU KNOW ALL OF THESE BENEFITS OF DRINKING COFFEE OR TEA:
-Both are filled with antioxidants and caffeine which help fight chronic diseases and help contribute to a longer life versus non-drinkers.
-Regular coffee and tea drinkers have lower rates of Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases, according to a 2018 study.
-Drinking coffee or tea daily was associated with a reduced risk of heart disease.
-Coffee and Tea helps fight inflammations in your body which improve overall health.

I absolutely LOVE the smell of fresh coffee, or freshly-ground coffee beans. I used to love walking into an A&P store because they had coffee grinders at the checkout lanes, where they’d grind the 8 O’Clock Coffee to order. But I loathe the taste! It’s almost like the smell and the flavor don’t go together! So I’m a tea drinker.
I’ve become addicted to teas from The Republic of Tea, especially their coconut chocolate tea (which tastes like a Mounds bar). It’s decaffeinated so I can have that as a dessert without it keeping me up all night! I also like Bigelow, Stash, and Tazo brands. My favorite flavors are vanilla caramel (Bigelow), peppermint chocolate (Republic of Tea), butterscotch dessert tea (Tazo), and herbal cinnamon (store brands are as good as any “national” brand).
I drink iced tea at meals (decaf or herbal at night), usually 2-3 glasses at each meal. When the weather is cooler I will also drink a couple of cups of hot tea after dinner to “warm up.”
I have friends who say that dinking coffee prevents crime, because if they didn’t have their coffee they’d kill their co-workers!
Thanks for the discussion, and here’s a glass of tea to you!

@FourWalls And now I feel the need to go down and make a nice espresso. I will not sleep this night, may be!

@dgobucks226 — oh, even better because the mint chocolate chip tea has zero calories and doesn’t cause a brain freeze.

That a great point about the aroma of coffee beans. Some of the flavors from those ground beans I find quite tasty!
Wow! I never knew so many specialty tea flavors existed. Like going into an ice cream parlor.
I also enjoy iced tea with my meals.
I'll take that "tea for two..."

Yes, they are both good for you. Most people don't realize coffee is actually good for you. My grandparents drank a lot of coffee and both lived into their 90's. My mother drinks quite a bit as well, and is 86..and in pretty good health for her age.

@dgobucks226 I wasn't surprised. I had been hearing the info for years. Of course if it keeps you awake at night, it could have an opposite effect. That is why I mostly drink in the AM.

I was surprised that something with caffeine had health benefits. Some studies suggest that the optimal number of cups of coffee per day to maximize health benefits is between three to five cups.

Many people enjoy chamomile tea as a caffeine-free alternative to black or green tea and for its earthy, somewhat sweet taste.
Plus, there are many benefits too, just like coffee.
-Both tea and coffee drinkers are at a lower risk for diabetes.
-Chamomile has properties that may aid sleep and digestion, as well.

Thanks for your response! Columbian coffee beans are one of the highest in the world. I believe the sources I saw said it was #3, although the Arabica one you mentioned is the highest.

Coffee is too bitter for me, but I like tea! A nice black tea is my favorite. I'm most partial to Earl Grey, English Breakfast and Constant Comment.

Tea has never been my thing, cold or hot. I just don't like it. Coffee is my go to, forever and always and without any exception. I'm like you in that I MUST have my coffee in the morning and I drink probably five or more cups a day, but only in the morning. You will never see me drinking it in the afternoons or evenings. If I do, it's on EXTREMELY rare occasion.
As for preferred brands, to me coffee is pretty much coffee and I am by no means a coffee snob. I drink whatever is cheap most of the time. Right now there's Great Value in the cupboard. But I'll drink Chase & Sanborn, Beaumont, Kroger brand. I do like Folgers and Maxwell House. When it comes to bagged varieties, I like Seattle's Best and Eight O'Clock.
As for the many health benefits, I have always been happy to know that coffee is MOSTLY healthy to drink.

Yes, I also look for bargains at the store and I'm willing to buy the store brand when it's on sale. Otherwise, I will go with Maxwell House and have tried Eight O'clock too. With inflation staying sticky, sales are a must and treat these days!

@dgobucks226 Interestingly enough, the "big can" of Maxwell House that compares to the "big can" of Great Value is ALMOST the same price. When it's that close, sometimes I opt for the Maxwell House. But actually the Great Value is quite good. It's made by Sara Lee.

@porwest I did not know that. When I do shop at Walmart, I've found their Great Value items to be very good.
I heard today on CNBC news that it's not just the lower income people being affected by food prices but also the middle class. People have resorted to buying unhealthy more inexpensive foods to offset the higher costs. Duh... I've had to do that for quite some time, and one can't blame the pandemic anymore.

Since my husband has been in the hospital and rehab, I haven't had my usual afternoon cup of decaf coffee. I miss it. I used to drink a lot of herbal tea; but I haven't had any tea lately. Have a good day.
