Sally Phillips - some interesting facts

I don’t follow film stars at all but some have interesting backgrounds and interesting lives. We recently watched an Australian movie called How To Please A Woman. Most of it was shot in Fremantle with several of the actors being well-known West Australian born and/or trained. The leading role was taken by Sally Phillips, who stars in the series, Austin, that I wrote about recently. She also played Sharon (Shazza) in the Bridget Jones movies. Austin features a young adult who is on the autism spectrum. Sally has a Downs Syndrome child and is a patron of Bue Apple Theatre in Hampshire, UK. This theatre group specialises in creating performance work with adults with a learning disability.

I don't follow film stars either. But I like the fact that there is a group with a purpose.

I think it's good to show these sorts of shows. I feel I've learnt a lot from them really and have more empathy towards them now.

It strikes me so funny when I hear people talk about celebs as if they actually met them and knew them personally. Besides, what does anyone really know about the people who write about them? I get the impression many of them write lies.

Some people know all about the stars and their lives but I'm just not that interested.

@rebelann I'd believe very little of what I read about them, that's for sure. Well, anything of the sensational stuff anyway.

@LadyDuck The bark comes off in sheets and is often used to line hanging pots for plants.

The tree is a melelauca or paperbark. It's a street tree and that particular year all the paperbarks were blooming their little hearts out.

It was funny to have never heard of her then to have her turn up twice. I wonder if there will be a third time.

The Theatre group is good in my book to work with people that have disabilities.

I would have seen her in the one Bridget movie that I've watched but didn't take much notice of her at the time.

@JudyEv I work with several humans who are branded as "delayed" in this way and that. Helping them express themselves through music is a delight.

It was only when I looked her up for some reason that I discovered she was in the Bridget Jones movies. I've only ever watched one and that was not long ago at the movie night here in the village.
