Fifty five pounds.
It’s been quite a journey these past two and a half years, lookie where I am now! Thanks to @LouAvul for wanting to start Weight Watchers back in December 2021. (I went on it to be a “support” to her.) Let’s celebrate with some great music that’ll make you get up and sweat to the oldies. Here’s the first song in the top ten of my favorites from 60 years ago.
#10: Glad All Over - Dave Clark Five
It’s hard to explain the British Invasion or the effects of Beatlemania on music in the 60s. After the Beatles, anybody with an English accent and a guitar could get a record deal. While that resulted in a lot of one-hit wonders, we also got a lot of great bands. Would the Stones have made it without Beatlemania? Thankfully, we can only speculate over what bands we would or wouldn’t have been able to enjoy.
There was a media-created “rivalry” between the Beatles and the Dave Clark Five, probably started when this song knocked “I Want to Hold Your Hand” out of the #1 spot in England. Needless to say, the DC5 didn’t amass the worldwide recognition of the Fab Four; however, they are both in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
And for the Dave Clark Five, it started with this terrific tune.

I feel tons better, and that’s more important. I told my pulmonologist I wouldn’t have believed weight loss would have improved my breathing this much.

@JudyEv — I know what you mean. I have a dear friend who, at one time, was over 400 pounds. She still needs to lose about 50 pounds more to be at the BMI where they’ll do a knee replacement.

@FourWalls We have a (very) overweight friend. She must be putting so much stress on her legs and hips.

People are so weird in music. You know how military says do not take it personal. I think people take every thing personal/ The only time you stop is when you been called everything bad in the book. Hey, at least me and Trump have something in common.

@FourWalls See, you know. After a while, I cannot be that bad. Its just them hating something others did.

Ah, yes, those days of the garlic-breathed drill instructor two inches away from your nose….

You are so uncorrigated, or incorrigible, or whatever. Go sit by the pool and take some 60s music with you!

First of all, congratulations on the weight loss. I remember so well when the Beatles vs. the Dave Clark Five was going on. I was for the Beatles of course. I think I did buy a DCF album though. Have a good weekend.

Everyone picked the Beatles in the long run, didn’t they.
Thanks, I’m enjoying the weight loss journey. I pray I never go back to the old way of eating….but in reality, I just modified the way I had been eating instead of a “drastic change.” It’s the latter that usually causes people to fail.

@FourWalls I think that's how I lost my 25 pounds. VERY slowly and without cutting way back on food.

Yup, my brother and I would stomp the house down when that came on the radio...

I think their most-often played hit anymore is “Catch Us If You Can.” They had a lot of good songs.

I love the song and the band, During my more active days the volume on this went up and the dancing started, Once the ceiling started shaking and the floor joined in my mom would tell me to stop, I had the radio on constantly, and if not that then my collection of 45s playing

What a great tune. I was not a big fan of Dave Clark 5 when they arrived on the scene, but I am now. I definitely underrated those guys.
17 Top 40 hits in the US. "Because" is one of my favorite love songs.
