I had no idea until I read about this today that there is a road that is the longest road in the world. It is the Pan American Highway and spans two continents passing through 14 different countries It takes 50 days to drive from start to finish if you only stop at night to sleep. Are you ready for this road @FourWalls
The Pan American Highway begins in Prudhoe Bay, Alaska, and stretches to Ushuaia, Argentina. It passes through icy wastelands, deserts, dense jungles, and past mountains. Imagine how many friends you could make and the things you could see along the way as well as the wildlife. You know I am an animal lover.

@rebelann you have a point there but if it's on the map I would think there are service stations, Imagine a giant orangutan standing along the road with a sign Any car troubles?

@AmbiePam I was thinking that with all those horror stories of bad plane accidents lately it is good to know there is such a road for someone who would have to get to South America,

That would be an amazing trip. Probably somewhat unsafe..but probably worth the risk. I had heard of it, but didn't know anything about it. One could write a book about their great adventure. The Alaska Highway is very long as well. There is also one in British Columbia that is extremely long.

@RasmaSandra I am sure. They say the Darien Gap is very dangerous. The rest of it not so much.

Very interesting. I didn't know about it. If you drove it, you would have to put your car on a boat to get across the Panama Canal, right?

@LeaPea2417 no idea this is what I got from the Internet
But the Pan-American Highway doesn't quite cross all of those 17,848 kilometers (11,090 miles). In its span, it successfully passes plenty of obstacles: a ferry across the Strait of Magellan, a two-mile tunnel through the Andes on the Chile-Argentina border, a bridge over the Panama Canal, and the unforgiving tundra of the Yukon.
