Hey, this was something that I didn't expect! A young policeman with his vehicle and flashers going full throttle. This fella was very polite:)
He immediately asked me, "Do you realize you didn't fully stop at that crossing?" With a lump in my throat I replied, "No sir, I certainly didn't realize this, sorry!"
The officer politely asked for my registration and proof of insurance, which I had in the glove compartment.
Then I stupidly commented, "Hey, I'm a seventy two year old grandmother! And this will be my very first ticket!" He walked back to his car, to bring up my records on the computer system.
About five minutes passed by, it seemed a lot longer. People were gazing from the sidewalk, I did my best to avoid eye contact with them. I usually stare, when it's some other driver who's in hot water
The officer came back to my window and handed me the registration/proof of insurance."Be more careful, that's a dangerous crosswalk across Newman Street!"
I replied, "Yes, I need to be more careful:)" He kindly reached and we shook hands.
That was a close call and it was 100% my fault
The officer only gave me a warning, thank heavens for that blessing
The Lord teaches us lessons, especially through our own errors and wrongdoings

That's an interesting encounter with the cop.He is lenient and considerate. I had a different encounter a few years ago with the cop. I was coming back midnight to my apartment after watching a movie . Suddenly a cop appeared out of nowhere and asked me to blow the breathanalyzer . While I am teetotaler , I did not blow properly into breathanalyzer. I was thinking about something or I was surprised, I really do not know. Well, had to do it again and there was nothing and the cop asked me to drive carefully! Anyways,be watchful of the streets. Thanks for sharing!

I'm glad you didn't get severely punished. It frightened me, but I just stayed as calm as possible. He was very kind:)

Sorry about that. I have received a warning before for speeding. I was real apologetic to the police officer.

When a driver doesn't get upset, verbal and overly defensive, they can be very forgiving.

@kobesbuddy I shouldn't jinx myself, but it has been about 4 years since I received my last speeding ticket.

Yes, a parking ticket is expensive, speeding tickets are really high!

@kobesbuddy It was a bit similar with me. They were held up almost as bogey men.

I was always afraid of a police officer! It was said to me, "You need to behave or he will throw you in jail!"

I would have a stroke if I got stopped by a policeman. I've never had a ticket or a warning. I'm glad he let you go without a ticket. Have a good weekend.

You were humble and admitted your guilt, you did not give him attitude like some would. The warning will serve you well and he did his job correctly.

Lucky you, he didn't want to ruin your perfect record! I had a speeding ticket about 15 months ago. They are not cheap. I panic whenever I see police cars following me. I never saw that one unfortunately.

What an experience. I got stopped once several years ago now for speeding. We were coming home from a counseling session and I was tired. My grandson piped up to the policeman and told him his opinion of what happened. The policeman got a kick out of my grandson. He gave me a warning too. I apologized to my grandson and Boy! did I get a talking to by him?

I do OK driving in town. On the highway or in the city, I'm a basket case.

There's something about that uniform and at, that reminds me of the military service.
