Update on chilly.

As @porwest requested (and I am sure others) I'm going to keep you up-to-date on Chilly. He appears to be getting slightly weaker, but managed to make it on our bed. He's not activly seaking food or water, but does eat and drink if I put it literally under his nose. I want him to rally and get stronger, but given he hasn't gone number two in several days has me concerned. Normally I'm cleaning his landminds out of his litter box every other day. I have a grocery order to bring in and sort. Once I've done that, I'll check on him again and see if he's made any actual headway on his meals.

Chilly needs a vet's care, or he will die.

I know he does. George thinks he likely will weather we take him or not. He has to be at or just over 18 now. You have to understand, I want to take him. But, it's not as simple as it used to be.

@celticeagle I can hope, but I don't think so. He's refused all food and water today.

I don't think they could. The fact he's trying to eat, (even if I have to shove it under his nose) is promising.

I am sorry that Chilly is weak. Have you tried to entice him with a little chicken broth cooled down? That may help.

We don't have any. I tried his favorite chease, nothing. I tried a michicken, nothing. I shoved his food under his nose and he licked the top of it. I just gave him a steam treatment to open up his sinious.

Tuna juice might interest kitty. Nutritional yeast perks up my Siamese's interest right away.

He can't smell. I discovered that he doesn't seem to be able to smell. I gave him a steam treatment and I put him in the bedroom with food and water.

@kaylachan Vet can IV fluid into Chilly. He needs that before his kidneys shut down.

When I was growing up and our kitties were ill mom would pour the oil off a can of sardines for them. I know Chilly is old for a kitty, and if it is his time, all you can do is make sure he is comfortable, but a small treat like sardines might be healing and it benefits the lack of toileting.

@nela13 That's what we're doing. I wanted to take him two days ago, but given his age, health and the fact it's an exercises in patience to get a ride to and from the vet, we want to be sure it's worth it. There's a 50/50 they can do something. or recommend we put him down. If he's comfortable, we'd rather he cross rainbow bridge at home with us.

@kaylachan Sometimes they recover just like us, humans, without seeing a doctor, you have to analyze his condition carefully and then decide.

George and I talked about it. We don't want to put him through that. We don't want our baby's last moments to be of pain and fear.

@kaylachan I hope he has pain meds. I went through months of hospice with my lovely Leah then had the Vet come out and humanely end her suffering.

Hopefully you have a little more time to enjoy with Chilly, but of course, there comes a time when nature just takes its course. My thoughts are with you and the little guy.
