Hey, how about that! The nurse from the VA clinic I go to called while I was having lunch (that’s why I’m late, I was on the phone with her), and I’ll go see my doctor on Monday morning. That rocks! So does this countdown of songs that have “rock” in the title. Here’s another one that even Ray Charles saw coming.
Jailhouse Rock - Elvis Presley
Yeah, I’m gonna leave this one off.
Elvis putting the rock in “rock and roll.” One of the most instantly-recognizable songs of the rock era, by THE most instantly-recognizable name in music. Understand something: next Friday, August 16, marks 46 years since Elvis died…and last year “he” earned $100 million. He has never been lower than #7 in the top ten list of Forbes’ list of “highest earning dead celebrities.” Until Michael Jackson died, Elvis was usually #1. Take that, Taylor Swift.
So “nix nix,” stick around and enjoy Elvis getting his kicks.
Jailhouse Rock
Written by Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller
Recorded by Elvis Presley
Released as a single, 1957

I can still close my eyes and remember when my father took me to the cinema to watch Jailhouse rock. But that wasn´t the first song with hte word "rock" I knew. How about Rock around the clock?

There was “Rock Awhile” in 1949, too, that shows where Chuck Berry got his signature riff from.

I was 8 yrs old the only time I ever saw him but I had no idea who he was, I wasn't interested in music let alone his.
Dad was stationed at Buttsbach Army Base in Germany at the time and the only thing that really caught my eye were the people who were following him. I hadn't seen that many people in one place before.

Thanks, I just wish I could remember seeing him, mom did though and later we found out he was visiting his future wife who lived with her parents not too far from the housing we were in. Back in the late 1950s military housing in Germany consisted in trilevel apartment buildings for military families. The German govt has torn down that base some years ago
EDIT: Its spelled Butzbach

I'm not a big Elvis fan; but I definitely know his music. Have a good weekend. Why are you seeing your doctor? About the ER visit?

Yes, it’s a follow-up to the ER visit. The VA is on the ball with this.

Glad you know it. It’s pretty ubiquitous in music, not just Elvis’ music or rock music.
