I know what she did

Okay, so Bob decided that since I had been craving Chinese Buffet all summer we could go tonight. I said "yes" which I do not always do.
We drove to Hutchinson, Ks. about an hour and a half away.
China Star has a large round "cold area" where salads and dressings, and jello and sushi, and fruit reside. Not necessarily with labels.
There was a table of four "older" people, two couples, already enjoying the different selections. They were having a nice time.
One lady went to the salad area, which she was calling "desserts" because there was jello and some other desserts in the mix. She got back to her table and I could here her talking about the green stuff and not knowing what it was. I knew what it was, or I could guess.
I especially could guess when she spoke of it being hot and spicy. The whole table tried a taste. None of them were familiar with it.
Can you guess what it was? What if I said it was with the sushi, and next to a dish of pink sliced stuff? Yes, the pink stuff was pickled ginger.
The green stuff was wasabi. I sort of wanted to tell them but I am glad I did not embarrass them. The lady asked one of the workers who told her.
I am not fond of wasabi, but I have tried it.
Do you enjoy wasabi?

Not a huge spice fan, if I'm being honest.

My ex husband took me to a Japanese restaurant for my birthday once and I got what I thought was avocado. I put a huge chunk on something and put it in my mouth with my ex and an employee yelling no but too late. OMG not sure if you ever saw The Nanny where high pitch nasal Fran Dresser went to normal talking after eating some but that was me. I thought I would need emergency.

A big bite of it would be quite awful.

If I have the choice, I won’t touch it. I prefer to enjoy my food without it. But if it’s served with maki or sushi, I'll mix a bit of it with soy sauce and lemon.

I have tried it, and I have also bought wasabi peas. It has a bitterness to it that I do not care for.

Hubby does not like it at all. He likes horseradish and he likes Tabasco. His taste has been growing milder. At Perkins he wanted hot sauce and they brought Cholula. He did not want to be a bother, but he said it is much hotter than Tabasco.

I don't like things that are too hot or spicy. The buffet sounds enticing though. I could go for some Chinese food. Have a great day. An hour and a half drive is more like a vacation!

I like things that have some red pepper flakes. I got some shrimp that was a bit too hot and spicy the other night. I could eat it, but I would not try it again.

I think when I have had it it has been more than a pinch.

In limited quantities. I learned after my first experience with it, you don't want more than a small amount.

Hutchinson is a busy little town. I do not get wasabi on purpose ever.

I like horseradish, and of course wasabi is just a stronger form of it. I would NEVER call it hot and spicy. Hot and spicy to me is something that lingers. Horseradish and wasabi is a quick punch and then it is gone—although, it's weird how it attacks your nose.
Wasabi is a bit TOO much of a punch for me. But I never eat hot and spicy, but I DO eat horseradish.

I find Wasabi to be hot and bitter rather than spicy like peppers, for instance. I do not like it. I also do like horseradish. Several years ago I read in Prevention magazine that you should eat horseradish for sore throat and cold symptoms. It went on to say that if you cannot tolerate eating it you should at least open a jar and breathe it to clear your sinuses.

@GardenGerty Sniffing horseradish will definitely open things up, that's for sure.

I like wasabi. I often have it with my salmon sashimi or sushi, but I make sure not to add too much.

It has a bitterness I do not care for, along with the heat. I do not choose it, but I like many seasonings besides it.
