Okay, this one might be a stretch as far as being related to “rock and roll.” But hey, it is rock and roll! Cars and rock and roll go together, so in that regard it’s a perfect match. So crank it up and let’s boogie! Rockin’ Down the Highway - Doobie Brothers You can probably feel the wind in your hair as you listen to this. Inspired by driving with the windows down and the radio on, this song is one of those that’s a perfect soundtrack to what we used to call “255 air conditioning”: two windows down, driving 55 MPH. Rock on! Rockin’ Down the Highway Written by Tom Johnston Recorded by the Doobie Brothers From Toulouse Street, 1972 Gotta keep movin’ or I’ll lose my mind:

What? It's a classic that has always enjoyed considerable radio airplay.

@porwest — she’s a kid. She thinks Nirvana is “oldies.”

Just those words Gotta keep movin’ or I’ll lose my mind:bring back fond memories of trying to hit every disco or night club in NYC and then having nights when I get into bed and suddenly there is a song playing in my head

OK, this one started playing in my head, pretty loud, as soon as I read your title. This was my favorite Doobies album.

It’s a great album! Of course I’m a Tom Johnston era fan more than Michael McDonald.

Great tune (pre-Mc Donald) when the Doobies were rockin' it out of the park! When I saw them in concert these guys were terrific. If I only had a convertible top to lower back then to this tune. Now that would really be cruisin'.

I think convertibles are overrated. Of course, I have a sun roof so it’s the best of both worlds.

@dgobucks226 — I have a no-see-um bug screen mounted with Velcro on the inside of the sunroof, so no unexpected guests fly in the car, too!

@FourWalls Sun roofs are great. As long as your hair is blowing in the wind as you sail down that highway rockin' all the way, lol.
