Howdy from nowhere in particular, Indiana! I’m off to Illinois today for hopefully lunch with Marie tomorrow and a trip on the Illinois section of Route 66. I don’t have much time (I have a doctor’s appointment next Thursday) but that’s okay. I do have time to start my top ten section of favorite songs celebrating rock and roll in the title. Some of you are gonna hate this one….
#10: Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll - Ian Dury
Sorta punk but too funky to be punky. Of course, Ian Dury couldn’t sing, so there was that. 
But dang, this was a fun song. And, at least, it was HONEST. There’s no flowery euphemisms or poetic language here. He told you exactly what he wanted. Gotta appreciate that.
Many paid tribute to him when he died of cancer in 2000 as “a true original.” He absolutely was.

Understandable. There are a lot of things I like that aren’t everyone’s cup of tea. This song is one of them.

@FourWalls You are probably right about that. I know of some of his other stuff and I admit I have never been a huge fan, which is a shame, because there are some good riffs and otherwise good music behind whatever he's doing. lol
