Howdy from the land of Normal! No, NOT me, but Normal, Illinois. It’s part of the Bloomington-Normal area, home to Lt.Col. Henry Blake on M*A*S*H (and the actor who played him, McLean Stevenson…this is McLean County, BTW [no it wasn’t named for him]). I’ll be back rocking and rolling on Route 66 after I give you another musical tribute to rock and roll. Here’s today’s song.
#7: Life is a Rock (But the Radio Rolled Me) - Reunion
To say “Reunion” was a band is terribly misleading. It was a bunch of session musicians who recorded this song (that today would be called “rap”) that’s a long one-word sentence tribute to music.
There aren’t too many songs where you’ll hear ZZ Top, ELO, and Donny Osmond mentioned in the same breath.
A little trivia: the lead singer on this song was Joey Levine, who was also the lead singer for the “Chewy Chewy” band (that also wasn’t really a band, just studio musicians) Ohio Express.
Small rock and roll world, isn’t it!

Gotta turn it up louder so my DJ told me:

They weren’t a real band so they never had to worry about it.

@porwest — they toured. Reunion did nothing outside of the studio.

@FourWalls I mean, do you HAVE to be real band? Look at Tenacious D or Spinal Tap, or hell, The Monkees. I'd say they are all "real" bands actually. lol
I'd even call Eddie and the Cruisers a real band even though the music was done by John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band.

Who the hell is Reunion? Not for me. When we visited the west coast, we traveled through Boring, Oregon. Have a good week and drive safely.

@FourWalls Don't know. I just took a picture of the sign; and we drove on.

Oh, come on, you crank it up and shout it out when they mention Steely Dan. I KNOW you do!

There is also a town in Illinois called Oblong, in Crawford county. Years ago, a wedding made big headlines--even made the Johnny Carson show--''Normal Man Marries Oblong Woman'' and I still hear people in Normal joke about that!

@FourWalls
No, you can't. A true southern Illinois joke.
