My eye appointment was great, with no trace of whatever she saw in May. Of course, I can’t see out of that eye right now because of all the dilation and bright light that was shoved in it. Oh, well, let’s rock! Here’s another song celebrating rock and roll in the title. Who didn’t see this one coming?
#3: Crocodile Rock - Elton John
Yeah, of course. I’ll ignore this one.
I could have used “Rock and Roll Madonna,” an obscure song of EJ’s from 1968, but I throw enough craziness at y’all.
This was Elton’s first #1 song in America, and it came along at the time of American Graffiti and Happy Days and the 50s nostalgia. It fit in perfectly.
Hop and bop to the crocodile rock one more time!
Crocodile Rock
Written by Elton John and Bernie Taupin
Recorded by Elton John
From Don’t Shoot Me, I’m Only the Piano Player, 1972

Think he did that on The Muppet Show.

Of course I know this one! I'm glad your eyes are OK. I have an eye appointment next Thursday. Have a good long weekend.

Hate those dilation drops, my eye will be dry for a week. But thankful that we have the medical science to find things. Glad you like the song.

@LindaOHio — my eyesight hasn’t changed in four years, but I go annually for the pressure check. Glaucoma is prevalent in my family.

@FourWalls Yes, some people don't go to the eye doctor for years. I have to go every 6 months because of my glaucoma. If undiagnosed, you can go blind. I try to encourage everyone to go...but some people just don't listen. I also have dry eyes. Did you know that if you don't take prescription drops, etc., you can damage your eyes? Well, enough preaching. Have a good long weekend. BTW, if you have dry eyes, Flaxseed Oil, taken orally of course, does help.

They split in the late 70s and EJ quickly learned his lesson.

@porwest — yes, I think it was the Jump Up! album in some songs, and full-fledged reunion with the next album (Too Low for Zero).

I think it remains one of Elton’s most popular songs.

Elton headlined Glastonbury last year and was terrific. Still going strong at 77.
Have you watched Rocket Man? It gave a great insight into the role of Bernie Taupin, who wrote the lyrics for most of Elton’s hits.

I haven’t, it I want to read Bernie’s autobiography to see his take on their career.

That was Elton's first #1... Go figure! Anyway, I like that 50s feel the tune has. It was a time of innocence, the calm before the musical and social storm.

The thing I find odd about Elton’s #1 hits in America is “Bennie and the Jets” was and “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road” was not. That shows what a snapshot of the moment that the charts are, versus what lasts.

@FourWalls Great point! The numerous songs which had #1 potential that fell just short. Just ask John Fogerty of CCR about that.
The phrase "Timing is Everything" can apply to the music industry too.
