The Baconing™

September 4, 2024 5:28am CST
As much as I love my bacons, I don't have them often. But this morning I decided to have a BaconFeast™ and fried/baked an entire 24 oz package between my cast iron skillet and my oven. Cast-iron bacon is still slightly limp, while oven bacon is very much on the crisp side.

I like it limp. I've never liked it crisp but I know many do. Do you give the cats some?

May I remind you, gentle Scar and Hoomin, that I can’t eat bacon. Therefore, you need to consume my allotted portion to balance the universe. The webernet says that’s about 18 pounds. While you can ingest it all in a single setting, I’d suggest spacing it out over 18 days or so. Thank you for your assistance in keeping the balance.

I keep you in mind for if they ever start rationing bacon, I can say you said I could have your share.

I like my very occasional bacon on the crispy side, so I always make mine in the oven. Save the drippings for later and make some sinfully good fried potatoes in that cast iron skillet!!

YUM! I prefer the softer bacon, easier on my mouth. I'm all for the fried in the cast iron skillet.

That sounds like a bacon lover’s dream! There’s something magical about the contrast between crispy oven bacon and slightly limp cast-iron bacon.
