The world is putting out 57 million tons of plastic pollution every year. This is deplorable. We have to stop this!!! Hubby's 2nd cousin took me to my eye doctor appointment and then I treated her to an early dinner at Longhorn Steakhouse. Breakfast - Protein bar Lunch. - Longhorn Steakhouse - Bread, Parmesan crusted chicken breast, mashed potatoes, strawberry salad, Brussels sprouts Dessert/Snack - Chocolate Stampede and ice cream Dinner - None What did you eat yesterday? Remember when we had glass milk bottles, glass Coke bottles, cloth diapers, and paper grocery bags? We were so “ignorant” back then, weren’t we. Went to Mark’s for chicken & cheese-stuffed baked potato, and chicken & veggie soup for dinner. Plus yogurt and apples!!!

Yes, and everyone very conscientiously returned the bottles to the store and washed their cloth diapers. My mother used to do a load a day.

@MarieCoyle And we didn't have islands of plastic floating on the ocean. And now wildlife is consuming the plastic and they have found plastic in our brains.

Oh, the diapers I washed. A person really didn't think about it, it had to be done and we just did it. We had our milk delivered some of the places we lived, and put the empties outside for the milkman to pick up when he brought the next order. We took any soda bottles back to get the pennies for them...and funny, we didn't know we were deprived.

We're trying to make a conscious effort with our usage and purchasing of plastic but gosh darnit it is everywhere in our daily lives. Hope your eye appointment went well. They recently opened a Longhorn Steakhouse out here - we'll have to try it!

@much2say It's a steakhouse; so if you like steak... I always order chicken. I like the chicken tenders; but recently I had the Parmesan crusted chicken which was really good. The chocolate stampede is to die for; and they give you two huge pieces.

Don't blame the makers of plastic. Blame the people who use it who continue to throw it away instead of make an effort to recycle it. Just my two cents. Besides, what's the alternative to plastic nowadays? If you go to paper people will complain about annihilating the rain forests. If you go to glass people will complain about broken glass being littered everywhere. If you go to reusable bags people complain about spreading bacteria. It just never ends. Anyhow... For dinner I made baked chicken thighs with the rest of the stuffing and corn on the side, and I also boiled some carrots in a mixture of broth, Worcestershire sauce and brown sugar. Yummy all around.

I'm blaming the end user, not the makers. People need to stop throwing bottles and other plastics in our waterways and on our beaches. There also needs to be a more concerted effort to recycle.

That is a lot. Hope your eye appointment went well. Your lunch sounds good minus the strawberry salad and brussel sprouts.
