An emu seen wandering in streets of McKeesport Pennsylvania.

A resident of McKeesport Pennsylvania witnessed an emu that ran away from the home of a neighbor on Monday September 2 and was seen running around near her home when the resident Airiel Dawson recorded the incident. The good news is that the McKeesport Police and the owner of the emu were able to capture the emu and return the animal back to the home of the owner safe and sound. Like I said before why would anyone want to own an emu as a pet is odd in my view since I will settle for having a dog as my pet. Link is upi.com/8971725394141 via @upi

Emu's running wild seems to be a regular thing now, it's weird. At least they found and captured this one. They are just too big and too fast to be pets. I'm with you, I will take a dog any day over an emu.

It seems that the owner needs to secure his fences this time.

There must be a lot of emus in America as they always seem to be getting loose.

Another case of leaving the gate open, I suppose, as these birds can't fly, nor jump too high over a fence too, I would reckon. I was wrong there, these birds are good jumpers. "Emus are the only birds with calf muscles. Their feet have three toes, and fewer bones, and muscles, than those of flying birds. Their strong legs enable them to jump 2.1 metres in the air. " From the Canberra National Zoo, and Aquarium, site.

I have heard that emus cannot fly but I did not know that they can jump over high fences.

What is the deal with these emus. I lived across the street from an emu farm, and they never got out.

That is a good question why many emus run away from home these days.

That is odd to have an Emu for a pet. That is good it was returned to its owner in safe condition.

I can understand having a goat for a pet since a goat cleans up a mess but an emu is odd to be a pet.

This fleet-footed emu would have tested the police. The owner cannot take this for free taking into account the resources and time spent to capture the emu.
