Are people still panicking about COVID?

I heard someone say something about it yesterday or the day before. That there is a new strain or new strains. I've seen a couple of posts here, or on other social media where people are talking about schools going back to virtual learnings yadda yadda yadda. I've even seen one or two people around town with masks on. So that brings me to my question and the title of the post. Are people panicking about the new "strain" of COVID? I have seen a doctor in the last few weeks and was told not to worry about it and made sure we hadn't gotten any of the VAX shots. Actually had my doctor and the nurses tell me they were glad we hadn't and were not going to get any. So what am I missing? Is there some sort of surge? Or report of higher numbers or more cases or something?

I'm more worried about a gov't shut down than that My friends in Ky wear the mask all the time where me & husband haven't worn them since it started & we didn't get any shots & you know what ? we haven't gotten sick, & we're up in our 60's & 70's.

Why are you worried about a government shut down? It's election time, they aren't going to do that

Well, you're right the masks didn't keep you from getting the virus. If anything, people not infected would receive some protection from those infected individuals wearing them. I don't think they will shut down the government again. They would not go there. The American people have wised up to that election scam (in my view) and would not listen or obey.

@thislittlepennyearns that's what they are talking about & just because the election is just around the corner, YES they can shut down the govt any time they feel like it. they will do what ever they can to keep trump from going in office & if a shut down works then why not?

Now we no longer care about COVID,even had COVID,treat it like a Flu,nothing much.Furthermore,we no longer have special test for COVID in hospital,if we doubt catching virus, only test by ourselves.

Coviid will still remain just like the flu. But here in my country, there was a time of the rising cases of whooping cough. a few weeks after that, I see more people wearing masks again. I thought it was about covid or whooping cough, but people wear masks again because there ahs been volcanic activity here and it releases vog They said the new strain of covid sometimes does not give much fever but more body pain.

I have read in the news not as many people are not taking the Covid shot anymore. It doesn't prevent getting the viral strain. It does seem the virus is not as severe as it once had been. I knew a few people who had the last one and they said it was just like getting a cold. Those shots have not been tested over a long period and no one knows the long-term effects if any form continually getting them. I think that is the reason for the decline.

I never got one, I never will They did not have enough time to prove they do or don't work.

@MarieCoyle Yes, the initial strain of Covid was very bad and was not handled well by the WHO and CDC. We were dealing with an unknown and many false data was provided including the Covid shot would cure and prevent you from getting infected. Sadly, we found out it was not true. In addition, if the health organization would have listened to some of the data from other scientists in the field who advocated for using certain therapeutics as treatment, which were rejected, many lives could have been saved, maybe even your loved ones. Finally, catastrophic decisions by blue state Governors (NY and NJ come to mind) of placing infected individuals into nursing homes caused numerous people to die. Dr Fauci was another culprit as he sponsored this "gain of function research" which started this lab virus in the first place. He and the CDC also refused to follow the advice of these experts, recommended double and triple masking as one of the solutions.

@thislittlepennyearns I have lost quite a few family members to Covid when it was at its worst. And several of them were younger people. They are very much missed.

Media hype, I think, and nothing more. Was the REAL covid even ever as bad as they told us? Not hardly.

We never believed in it. We we're told when we got sick before covid was a thing that that's what we had. It was the flu.

@thislittlepennyearns People get mad at me for saying it, but I think the whole thing was a joke. Not only was it only a flu, it seemed to also wipe out the common cold. When's the last time someone said, "It's just a cold?" Every sniffle is now covid. What a load of hooey.

Covid is still occurring pretty often here but no-one has to report it.

I think the problem is that it is mutating so fast. I've read that what most people think of as having a cold is a strain of Covid
