I talked about me giving away those liquer chocolates and even my friend has returned the stone set I gave her as she said she never wears anything as she is a 'minimalist' I may keep that for myself or give it to my niece. Have you had any experience such as this?

I don't know if I have ever returned a gift. I guess if I needed the money more than the gift, even if a lot of gifts are...useless.

If there are no ill feelings I am sure that should be possible.

@allknowing I don't think there should ever be ill feelings. But of course, some people tend to be overly sensitive.

@porwest One should be practical and not sensitive.

I've never experienced anything like that, I think some people might regift to someone else without letting me know. But it's okay, as long as my conscience is clear. If I'm close enough to someone and I know I won't use a gift, I might refuse right away. That stone set is very pretty but I don't wear jewelry often either. Maybe your niece will put it to good use, or you will.

@somewitch What is so sacrosanct in keeping that secret and not telling the one who gave the gift that it was of no use/ We are both at peace now.

@allknowing Yes, besides, lying and hiding can be exhausting and doesn't always lead to desired outcomes.

I remember that my Mother gave be back a very nice sweater I bought for her, she told me that it was "too elegant" and she went nowhere to wear it.

I am sure you did not mind when she returned it to you It is better that way than being dishonest.

@allknowing - I did not mind and I choose for her something I also liked, so I was happy to wear it.

I can't remember having had any gifts returned. Is that the set in the photo? It's very pretty.

People hear, if they don’t like a gift, or can’t really use it, usually just say thank you, keep the gift, and don’t say anything else about it. They may secretly give it away, but they don’t let the original gift giver find out about it.

Dependa on how close one is with each other. We had no ill feelings about it at all.

@allknowing Which is really cool to me, that you guys can do that with no hurt feelings. Women in America, usually get their feelings hurt. Guys don’t though, unless it’s a very expensive gift.

@AmbiePam One needs to be practical. Honesty plays a role here.
