12/20/24 - Update On My Husband

I called the facility yesterday and spoke with the social worker. She forgot to ask about the cost of physical therapy. She did fill me in on my husband's urologist appointment. On Monday they are going to take out the catheter and see how much output he has. If it's not enough, it will be put back in. I've heard nothing about a diagnosis. I now have the doctor's name; so I can follow up with him.
I was so tired yesterday that I didn't set up my husband's phone, make the 10 or so calls I need to make or do the other things that I need to do.
Thank you for your continued prayers, support and thoughts.

It's normal you are tired because you have so many issues to handle. Take a break when necessary. Will continue to pray for you.

This constant not knowing and trying to manage long distance is exhausting I am sure. Because my husband has had a foley off and on for over six years I am familiar with some of the things that go on. There is actually a scanner, like a portable ultrasound that can tell how much urine is left in the bladder to determine if he is emptying completely. In those six years hubby has gone ten months, twice without the catheter. Right now he is on five months catheter free. It can happen and it is so much healthier to not have a catheter.

Yes, I worry about infection when he has it in. Sorry to hear about Bob having that trouble.

You need to take care of yourself, too. Find time to sleep and don't let yourself get that tired.

@LindaOHio Yeah, but you can do better about that. Especially at night when you can't do anything.

Linda, you have been such a trooper over the course of these past months, well, really, almost a year already.
You deserve a rest a little down time, Linda time, whatever you want to call it.
You have been under so much stress and have chased down so many possibilities all the while putting your own needs on the back burner.
Take care today, do what you can in the timely and meticulous manner in which you do.

@LindaOHio Good, but don't let yourself wear down Linda.
I would really hate to hear that you went to visit him and you caught something, and this time of the year if we are tired and come into contact with germs, they will make us ill.
I bought some orange juice and clementines to snack on here for our health.

@Juliaacv They had a Covid outbreak at the facility; but now they say that there is only one case. There are a lot of other diseases that can circulate in a place like that too! I wore a mask during the last two visits.

You need a break. Don’t forget your own health. Take a few minutes each day to put all of this aside and rest.

Sometimes I put on my blanket and just close my eyes for a while.
