City officials in Oregon upset with person vandalizing sculptures

I do not blame city officials in Bend Oregon who are upset with vandas who have placed googly eyes on at least eight sculptures or art pieces that have caused damage that cost a lot of money to remove them without damaging the sculptures.
It is one thing to have a sense of humor by putting googly eyes on sculptures or works of art but I understand why city officials are upset with sending employees to remove the offensive artwork without damaging the sculpture.

Perhaps with the look of sculptures these days, being ugly pieces of work, the vandal just wanted to make it look better, but perhaps, they should have consulted with the artist first, who might even have agreed to the change.
