City officials in Oregon upset with person vandalizing sculptures

Googly eyes on a sculpture in Bend Oregon.

I do not blame city officials in Bend Oregon who are upset with vandas who have placed googly eyes on at least eight sculptures or art pieces that have caused damage that cost a lot of money to remove them without damaging the sculptures. It is one thing to have a sense of humor by putting googly eyes on sculptures or works of art but I understand why city officials are upset with sending employees to remove the offensive artwork without damaging the sculpture. I have started seeing a lot of graffiti around my block in the post boxes, phone booths and lamp posts and it's not a pretty sight.

Graffiti in a public building is ugly indeed.

@Dreamerby I have seen some vulgar words inside of bathrooms myself.

Sometimes I used to find school washroom walls filled with expletives

That would certainly be very funny if it weren't for the expense of removing them.

It is kinda funny and better than them splashing paint all over things. It is wrong though and should be addressed.

That is correct since it is an insult to the artist that created the sculpture.

It reminds me of the people putting miniature cowboy hats on pigeons in Las Vegas. It’s not funny, and needs to stop.

I hope they can put a stop to this, It's just not fair to the artists if the sculptures get ruined,

That's too cute googly eyes. If it weren't a sculpture that cost a lot, it could be a statement itself

You are right that the googly eyes are cute even though the artist is offended over the googly eyes.

Perhaps with the look of sculptures these days, being ugly pieces of work, the vandal just wanted to make it look better, but perhaps, they should have consulted with the artist first, who might even have agreed to the change.

I am in agreement with you that if a vandal and artist would work together, the work of art would look better.

I heard about this. It's funny but could ruin the sculpture....it's still vandalism.

if it didn't cost any money to fix it and if you could just feel them off and solve the problem - i'd find it funny

I mean these people are brainless, stupid and jobless people who have nothing to do with their lives and henceforth they go about destroying artifacts. We have them here in India as well.
