I see haze on the horizon today. Is it the LA fires?

Yesterday was sunny and pleasant here in the Bay Area. I could see Mt. Diabo clearly, and there was no smoke on the horizon.
But this morning, when I went grocery shopping, I saw haze on the horizon to the East. I then looked in the other three directions and saw haze all around. It is still sunny and calm here.
I Googled Bay Area weather conditions to see if our haze is from the LA fires, but I could not find anything.
I chatted (via telephone; remember those?) with my lawyer friend in DC, and he said they had haze in Virginia from the Canada fires a year or two ago.
I still see haze on the horizon (to the East) as I head off to Guitar Center. Do you think it could be from the LA fires? LA is 400 miles to the South of us.
Photo is of our Bay Bridge on a non-hazy Summer day.

It depends... Which way was the wind blowing when you saw the haze? You could live in a spot that is lower or higher in elevation than the smoke from the fires is so it's still clear while the surrounding area is getting the smoke.
I hope you have fun with your students.

@TheHorse Hmm... then I'm not sure why it's clear where you live but hazy around your area. That's a little weird, in my opinion.

@DaddyEvil The winds down South could be pushing some smoke up here. I do not know.

There’s no telling. Remember a couple of years ago when so much of America had haze caused by the wildfires in Canada? Of course, half the country was on fire at the time, not just pockets of one city.
Regardless, I pray they can get those fires under control quickly. It’s so sad to watch.

I would think celebrities have nice tanks built up or around in various places so that any fire fumes in the home, would trigger downpour. Like in Die Hard movie. Now Insurance companies will go bankrupt clearing all the claims, government will bail them out, and well, people would have to pay more taxes, and inflation would be higher, and Chinese goods would seem cheaper, and gold prices will increase. Sigh...so predictable course of misfortunes.

We had haze for days with fires in nearby areas. It got so bad that we had to wear masks when we went outside.

@TheHorse ......we had one in our foothills and the smoke was horrible because it was close. I am sensitive to bronchitis and so I had to wear a mask.

@TheHorse Well, I don't know how Calli is laid out, but apparently they're popping up all over LA county.

Depends on the wind. We had some air quality alerts last summer for the Canadian fires
