Need dining table and chairs

During renovations we threw out our dining table and chairs as they were very old. Now we need to find a replacement. I’m looking for an expandable dining table and six chairs. Saw some tables and one chair at Bloomingdale’s that I really like. But even with the sale the total for one of the tables and six chairs is over $5,000. And with the table that I like more it will be over $7,000. That’s a lot of money. I hate it when I find something I really like but it turns out to be expensive. I guess I have expensive taste. Not sure what to do, where else to look.

I never realised chairs could be so expensive until we needed some. I hope you find some others that you like that are not quite so expensive.

Don’t know if I’d buy furniture from Craigslist.

@lovebuglena Why not? They're giving away real pianos out there!

@TheHorse I don’t trust that site for some reason.

My mom got her dining chairs there. It’s a good site but I want to see the stuff in person before buying it. And for chairs I’d like to sit on one too.

When we were in the city we had a round dining table made of wrought iron with a glass top. Here we have an oval woodoen one with a glass top. We cover it with a cloth in order not to have any scratches on the glass but hiding it and spoiling the look of it .

Even though my mom is offering to give some money toward it I can’t accept it.

That's expensive! I also like expandable tables. I saw some at IKEA that I like. I'm just saving up and waiting for a reason to change our dining set

@rakski maybe it depends on location.

Unless there was something physically wrong with the table and chairs you already had, I wouldn't have thrown them out. Good luck finding something else.

Chairs were ripped and falling apart. Table wasn’t as bad but it was from the ’90s and had to go.
