Whiskey is here

My neighbor texted to see if I could take the dog this afternoon. I was like "I'm here all day so he can come any time". She was like "I'm on my way!"
She dropped the dog off at her mother's house before work but apparently still has a camera there to keep an eye on Whiskey. She saw her disabled sister hold him up and punch another dog to get it to attack Whiskey. Well that had her in hysterics and now he is here.
She wants him to be here tomorrow because she has to work then too. I told her if she brings his crate tonight when she picks him up then he can stay here all day tomorrow. She'll have to medicate him because he doesn't do well in the crate but at least she won't have to worry about him getting attacked.
She said that his personality has changed over the past year since she moved and Whiskey has been spending a lot of time at her mother's. She said he is now food-aggressive and aggressive to pretty much everyone in general. I haven't seen that. I mean I have never trusted him with strangers or delivery people but he is good with me, my downstairs neighbor, and even my ex who he totally doesn't know. Maybe part of it is the environment that he is in. She used to take him to places like the mall and Dollar Tree. She can't do that any longer because he is apparently dangerous.
So Charlie's buddy is here until 6:30. The cat and dog are both happy about that. Adso is not.

OMG Chicca...that is sick. That poor dog. I would report that situation to the ASPCA. No wonder Whiskey has problems. THose people don't deserve dogs! I would tell your "friend" if you ever hear something like that again you will report it, and you need to. Tell her this is probably one of the reasons Whiskey is having problems. She will probably get mad at you, but so be it. She and her family are a piece of work. and the dogs deserve to be safe.

She needs to move away from there. She will end up with the dog attacking someone and being taken away by authorities and quarantined. Even if she sent the dog to a specialty rescue that would attempt to retrain it, I doubt it would work. Whiskey is now a liability and a danger to others. Didn’t he bite your cleaning lady? She could even end up with charges filed against her. Some people should never have pets or children. Sigh.

I have fostered and'/or rescued many animals over the years, mostly dogs. I will have to say that once a dog is truly aggressive, even food aggressive, it becomes an unpredictable creature. Even intense, professional people who are certified to help them will tell you that no matter what, some dogs will not change and some that do appear better, often surprise their owners by biting someone unexpectedly. I feel like Whiskey is a time bomb, it's not his fault, but it could end badly. All it takes is for one person to report being bitten by him, and he will be quarantined and evaluated, and possibly euthanized. I hope her owner knows this and does something to prevent it from happening.

The social dynamics of pets at your house. Of course if he is regularly abused at her mother's house his personality has become aggressive. Poor Whiskey.

You are right that the environment has to do a lot with the behaviour, be it a pet or a human. The dog is aggressive because of all the agressive attacks that he has got there. Keeping him away from that environment might slowly bring it down. Glad that you enjoy his company and so does your pets. So, it's not a trouble for you to babysit him.

I feel for Whiskey Her mother's place is dangerous for Whiseky and that explains his aggressiveness.

All I can say I am glad Whiskey can spend time with Charlie but he sounds like one messed up doggy.
