An update on the pumpkin

Back on the 19th of March, I posted a photo of a pumpkin plant. There was a stone about a foot from the end of a runner. It’s now 17 days later and I’ve taken another photo of the plant. I’ve put a brick about where the stone had been. I had to move it a bit so it would show up in the photo. Vince moved the runner so it wouldn’t start growing down the path and there are now other runners making a run for it (pardon the pun). The original runner is the one in the background. You can see it has made good progress in the time we’ve been here. The end of it is in the top left-hand corner.

There are a few blooms, I think that the owners will be pleased to see that you grew them some pumpkins while they were away.

There are ripe pumpkins on other bushes so they'll be right for a while.

It's really taken off! And blooming too! Soon there will be little pumpkins shooting all around it. I can't believe it has been 17 days since you posted. Seems like last week!

I've posted lots in between but not about this particular pumpkin. The owners might be surprised when they come home.

This isn't the one on the lawn. This one is where it's supposed to be - in the garden!

What if the owners don't like pumpkins and that one is from a bird dropping or something similar? They might pull it up as soon as you and Vince are gone.

@JudyEv I'm sure you're right and they'll probably leave it until after they harvest the pumpkins. I just enjoy teasing you too much.

@DaddyEvil I should have guessed you were pulliing my leg. We were in touch with them last night and they've told us to take a pumpkin home with us.

No, there are other pumpkin plants in other garden beds. The one in the lawn is the only one likely to be pulled out I think.

I haven't heard of fritters made with the flowers. That would be something different - for us, at least.

And some are really tough little codgers, aren't they? This one was in the pavement in front of a church. It's even managed to flower.

There's no place in my garden to plant pumpkin. I didn't plant them when there was space as they trailed all over the garden.

How much longer will you be there to monitor it. It is almost like having a pet, watching what it chooses to do.

Only two sleeps to go and we'll be heading off. It has been interesting watching it grow and guiding it into the garden rather then letting it go down the past.
