Speaking of concrete bird baths

When I was much younger, two houses ago, my neighbor worked for the concrete company in that town. Most people do not realize that when the concrete mixer truck goes on a job, sometimes there is a little bit of cement left over that has to be disposed of. This particular company had molds for planters and birdbaths. They would use up any extra that way. The bird baths and planters were free to employees. My neighbor brought me a bird bath. It is not so pretty as the ones they sell in the store. I will take a picture sometime, just not tonight. It is not going to move anywhere soon. I already have a concrete square under it. At its base are iris plants. I have a plant hanger shepherds crook beside it. I should get a pretty basket to hang there this spring. Or a bird feeder. Last year part of the time I had a hummingbird feeder, but I think I had rather just plant flowers that they like for them to gather nectar. The birds and I would both like that.

That's a sweet story about the leftover concrete.

That's a good way to use up leftover concrete. I wonder what other concrete companies do with their leftover concrete. There's a concrete company here in town... Maybe I should go look and see if they're selling anything made from poured concrete.

Those are nice to have. And that was better than throwing the concrete away

That's great that the company does that for the employees! I think flowers on that hook would be a great idea too! The hummingbirds will love it!

That’s a cool story, and I’m glad you got a birdbath out of it!

We've been wondering how they get all the cement out of those big snorkel affairs that they use on big buildings.

I love hummingbirds. I didn't realize that concrete companies used up the last bit of concrete that way.
