Being sick is very inconvenient.

I’m not complaining, I’m just mad at myself. Somehow, I picked up a respiratory infection along with a hacking cough. I know, we are always told to take our meds, stay hydrated, and rest. I can take the meds, and I am drinking plenty of fluids. But I can’t stay asleep!! I’m super tired. But every time I try to rest I wake up coughing. I can’t sleep in a recliner. Very frustrating! The doctor said we are having a big uptick in respiratory infections. Everyone, take care! Eventually I am sure I will crash and sleep longer than 15-30 minutes. I am just impatient waiting for the meds to start working. I’m worried that I won’t be able to get my son to his appointments, etc later this week. Today I plan on just attempting to beat this bug.

And that's the reason Pretty and I still wear masks if we go out in public. We don't want to catch whatever Joe Blow has and doesn't think is important enough to protect other people from getting. I hope you feel better soon and your son doesn't catch whatever you have. Good luck!

That’s my biggest concern, not to give him this, he doesn’t need anything else to cope with. Honestly, in the past two weeks the only places I have been are for his transfusions, and taking him to medical appointments. I always wear a mask in medical facilities. I guess it just didn’t do something right, unfortunately.

@MarieCoyle It happens. I hope your son doesn't catch it, too. Even wearing masks all the time, Pretty and I both caught the flu last fall when we went shopping for groceries. I'm glad it was just the flu. If you remember, I complained about it for a couple of weeks while Pretty got over it in a few days. Illnesses don't act the same for all people.

@DaddyEvil This is kicking my tail...I think I feel better so I get up and do some things, then I am down again. I am tired of it already, but it is evidently NOT tired of me!

When I had ovid (in spite of having 5 vaccines in my body) the first week I woke up in the middle of the night not only coughing but feeling that I would not be able to go on breathing. I had to sit on my bed and cough for what it seemed ages. I used a silk scarf on my neck and it helped. But it is a nuinsance and you never know when it will end. Take care. I know that you have to be there for your son.

I am doing my best for now. Just going to do what I absolutely have to do today. Not leaving the house at all. You are right, when we are sick we’re never sure how long it will last. Thank you, Marga.

Sleep as much as you can. That is always helpful when I'm sick. Drink and then drink some more. That helps to flush out the bugs. I'm a bit nervous about going out into the world again. I have been out for a couple of years now. I will go to my doctor in August. I may wear a mask.

@celticeagle It will be noisy and hopefully they will clean up any mess they make. But it will be nice to have new floors.

That's a long time from now, don't stress over it. Maybe you could start going outside on your porch for a few minutes a day? I bet that would be good for you.

I am sorry that you caught a bug, but I do hope that the coughing subsides long enough for you to get a bit of sleep. Sleep, as we both know, is when the body will begin to heal, and I hope that you can get some tonight.

@Juliaacv I get pneumonia rather easily, and was surprised that wasn't what I had, but no...I'm thankful for that. Thank you, I have been trying to rest.

Not coughing nearly as much...but I still feel like an elephant is sitting on me, and have an off and on mild fever. I have been sleeping every chance I get. Thanks!

@Deepizzaguy We get really hot days here at times in the summer, too, and have heat warnings. I don't do well in really hot temperatures.

Isn't there anyone else who could take him? Are you taking elderberry and zinc? They both help with an immune response. Sorry to hear you are ill though. I had a doozie of a cold over Thanksgiving. It was miserable. I feel your pain .

Everyone is either sick, gone out of town, or working. I got him there today, I had a lab nurse come out and get him, and I stayed in the car so I wouldn't make anyone sick. Then she texted and I picked him up at the door, so it worked. The only really bad part of the trip was that I couldn't sleep in the car, I rarely can. And I was definitely tired enough to do that!

@snowy22315 My ex was terrible at getting sleepy while driving. He made me a nervous wreck, I usually just drove most of the time if we were on a trip, because he would shut his eyes while he was driving--I would screech, ''wake up!!'' and his answer to that was ''oh, I wasn't asleep. I was just resting my eyes!'' Seriously? That did if for me, I never sleep in the car, or those memories of near disasters come roaring back!

I wonder if you might be suffering (key word there) with allergies. They’re horrible this year. (We have the added “delight” of mold from the flooding, too. ) Whatever, take chicken soup and Zicam (zinc) and get better quickly!!!

I thought it was my allergies, too, but allergies don't have a fever. And yes, mine are horrible this year. I did test positive for Influenza A, I've been sipping my chicken soup and taking my meds. I'm ready to kick this to the curb! Thank you.
