Oh how I miss that trio, to the left is Sandie, in the middle is Prissy and on the right is Rebel, she was Sandie's mom and the reason for my name here on Mylot. I owe all this reminiscing to @fourwalls, she keeps reminding me of ancient songs that I either haven't heard in decades or forgetten about all together, thanks kid. This video is all about mom's turtles. Mom rescued one back in the very early 1960s and ended up with over 10 by 2015. Mom passed in 2015 and sibling simply gave all those turtles to some guy that claimed he wanted to give them a good home, I found out about it weeks later . I had hoped to find a sanctuary that would take them and rehab them for release into the wild.

I love the photo. Thanks for sharing the link, Sorry about the turtles, After losing my cats with things so quiet I am debating with myself about a talkative parrot,

Parrots live long lives and can be a handful to clean up after, much worse than cats and cats to me are a handful.

Memory lane ! Ah, Rebel, your namesake . We had one of those turtles . . . we named it Tommy but years later we discovered it was a Tammy . I hope your brother did indeed find a good home for them.

@rebelann Red eyes? That sounds scary! I can't really recall the eye color, but I'm sure they were dark - probably brown like you said. We found out only because it dug a hole near a large planter and laid eggs for some reason (unfertilized).

Yeah, the males eyes have red rings around the center part and they are much more aggressive towards other turtles and sometimes also towards dogs or cats if they're really hungry. Mom had turtles for 50 years

Oh those memories Mom taught me that the males have red eyes and the females usually have brown

I don't know, Prissy doesn't look all that happy to be between the dogs. Maybe Sandie told a bad joke, what with that big grin and all.

Sandie grew up around Prissy but Prissy wasn't all that happy about Rebel let alone her puppies. She tolerated them both

Yeah, you gots a point but to many the 70s are ancient times, of course you and I know that it ain't They were so sweet and I was so ignorent about how to properly care for them, I wish I could apologize to them for being the guinny pigs for all the other pups that came after. No problem, but you do realize I blame you for the wheels on this chair gettin squeaky, right?

That turtle on the left is certainly tucking in. I'm sorry you didn't get the chance to have a say in their future.

@rebelann I want to think they were. If you've had a wild animal long enough, it can't be rehibiliated and released.

That's true, but when I spoke to the lady at the sanctuary here she told me most reptiles are pretty good about finding food as long as they were left close to water. I'm not an expert though.

This post had me when I saw the adorable labs and the pretty kitty, but when I watched the video clip, I was totally amazed. I have not seen turtles of this size eating and getting along as this trio did. I will watch it again I am sure.

Thank you, I still miss them to this day but the kitty was born in 1974 so you know they've crossed the rainbow decades ago. Those were 3 of her older turtles although I doubt many of them were really all that young.

Nah, they were already tween middle and old age in that shot, Prissy was the oldest at about 14 yrs in this shot and rarely played anymore. I was so ticked off when I found out but it was too late to do anything about it.
