Cast Away movie. I am glad i finally watched it. Are you a fan of the movie or of Tom Hanks?

I watched it on last Saturday, very unusual choice by our cable tv but i felt it was a right time to watch it. If you watched it, by chance, then you know that some movie scenes turned into parody and that turned me away from watching the movie for some time but i am glad i didn't give in. I must say that beginning of the movie was nothing special, very average but it all turns into something more when a person ends up alone in a deserted island, which is lovely but still deserted. Hanks is a FedEx employer, some sort of manager and that felt real. Not sure what is it about Hanks and not any other actor but i felt very relaxing watching him, expecting his every move to see how he will survive. It's not a horror movie but it's a horror to a living being to spend 4 years on island in the middle of nowhere. That's right, 4 years and no, story it's not true though it felt like that. If you didn't watch it, i don't want to give away spoilers but all i must say that movie made me content. I felt good seeing how Hanks's character simply didn't give up of just dying there and not sure, but i felt some religious meaning in it; possible biblical. End is satisfying but i wouldn't be that calmed like Hanks finding out what happened after he was rescued. Movie is from 2000 and it's a little bit over 2 hours long. It won 3 awards, according to Wikipedia.

I saw the movie many years ago. I cannot remember it being anything special, but it was a good way to pass a couple of hours. Thought it was funny how he would talk to 'Wilson' as he did.

@grenery8 I do not think that anyone of us would know until we were in such a position. Shock and fear would surely prevail and dictate how we handle the situation.

@grenery8 I think if someone was used to being around fellow humans, having absolutely no one at all to talk to would be really difficult. No wonder he “invented “ Wilson.

Hanks could make any movie work - accept action ones

Tom Hanks is a very talented actor. I enjoy most of his movies. I haven't seen this one.

That was a great movie! For an actor who started out doing comedy films, has become a really good performer in dramatic roles. I liked his only friend on the island "WILSON!!!" Sad when it drifted out to sea...

when i remember him acting in league of their own movie and then this, you are right. i think we would all talk to wilson for 4 years and yes, it was very genuine when he cried finding out he lost him; feeling of loss is real whether it's a real person or a companion like this it was a good movie, indeed

Watched that movie many years ago. It was good but I like Forrest Gump better. Tom was brilliant there.

I remember watching it at that time and I recollect some of it when you talk. Yes, I found it good ( not extraordinarily good) and Hank's character looked so real. I have forgotten many parts. I don't mind watching it again.

i agree that it's not something to rewatch it again actually, there is no need. i also liked how it wasn't fake. i like how he said to his friend after he was saved that he learned to breathe on that island and he should do the same, just breathing.

I've never seen it. It's not something I'd watch by myself.
