Good Morning 4/28

Something different for breakfast, eggs, ham and grits. Even Nico had some. I rarely have grits, maybe twice a year, but I do have a box now, so I will have to figure out what to do with them. Maybe I can make some kind of casserole with grits in them, although I have never seen one. I tried making shrimp and grits one time, which is supposed to be delicious, and it was..but mine turned out completely watery..so the dish flopped, but like I said it did taste delicious. If I can't think of anything else to do with these, I will try making that again. Does anybody know of anything to use grits in?

I had a smoked turkey and blue cheese sandwich for breakfast this morning. It was delicious! (I used blue cheese salad dressing on it instead of mayo this morning to match the blue cheese slices.) I've never liked grits even though that was something else mom thought all her kids should eat. I always scraped them off the top of my food and left them on the plate until she finally stopped putting them on my plate at all.

I like grits, they have their place. I get in the mood to get some every so often and then wonder what to do with them all.

Sorry I can't' help with any suggestions for using grits. I'm sure you'll have plenty of ideas from folks here. I'm pretty much in a breakfast rut. I basically eat the same thing every day (an English Muffin with either peanut butter or cream cheese and fruit)

@snowy22315 I like bagels too but most of the store bought ones are disappointing. I love the bagel place we have here but we usually only go there a few times a month.

@Marilynda1225 Unfortunately they have more calories than English muffins. I might see tomorrow morning if I can just eat half of one..if I decide to have one.

They are mostly consumed in the Siyth. You rarely find them above the Mason Dixon kine, at least that is how it used to be.

I don’t think I’ve ever cooked grits, and only tried them once. I’d like to have shrimp and grits.

We enjoy ours with butter, salt and pepper. We add a little milk while cooking them. They are good with cheese or bacon or sausage too. We also like shrimp and grits. Do you have regular grits that you cook on the stove ? The instant grits don’t really taste like grits. You may have got your grits to water ratio off. We like ours thick. They do take awhile to cook.

They aren't instant. I made mine with cheese this AM. I just followed the directions on the package. They turned out good, but that shrimp grits dish not sure what was wrong.

We dont have grits in England and it always makes me giggle when i hear the word in connection with food. Grits here are very small bits of stone.

Sometimes grits can taste like that if not prepared correctly, they are more apt to clump.
