Happy Monday Everyone! the week is starting off with sunny skies and decent temperatures. No complaint from me
As many of you know, I love to crochet. I love crocheting and buying yarn second to loving coffee
I don't know if I came up with idea on my own or if I saw it somewhere and had it stored in the back of my brain but here's my solution to my yarn getting tangled up while I am crocheting.
I bought a cheap paper towel holder that would sit on the counter top (not one attached to the wall).
Now all I have to do is slip my skein of yarn over the dowel and it unravels easily as I crochet. Plus it stands upright on the table next to me and makes it easy peasy.
I wish I had thought of this ages ago
If you knit or crochet this is an easy way to keep your yarn from tangling.

Wish I had thought about it sooner. Certainly would have made my projects easier to work on

Your nail in the wood is basically the same concept. Some of the skeins of yarn I have are so big it would be hard to roll it into a ball so I decided to give this a try and it's working very well so far. Wish I had thought of it sooner

@Marilynda1225 It sounds exactly what needed. I haven't seen skeins of wool for aeons. I remember holding the skeins for Mum to wind into balls.

Crochet is cool.
Yvonne does it too.
I think that you have had a very good idea to stop the wool from tangling as you crochet.
Sounds like it would work.
Yvonne has the big ball of wool on the floor Infront of her chair when she crochets.
I've never seen her get the wool tangled.
But I did see the cats play with the wool on the floor as she did her crochet.
I cannot crochet or knit.

Cats love to play with balls of yarn and I think it would be hard to crochet if cats are jumping on the yarn

Great idea you had there. Remember the crocheted poodles to put over the toilet paper? For reason your post brought that to my mind. Silly me.

@Marilynda1225 ........Yes, that thought just came to me as I was reading your post. That was long ago.

Somehow I doubt it was my idea and I probably saw it and then had it squirreled in the back of my brain until recently.
However, I'll take the compliment

I always rolled the skeins into balls and crocheted from the balls of yard to keep things from getting tangled. But using your method would save some time and effort.

Some of my skeins of yarn are huge so it would be hard to roll it into a ball. I usually roll the smaller ones but that's a pain too. Now all I have to do is slide it onto the dowel and I'm ready to go.

Just now
@Marilynda1225 The biggest skeins I've ever used were Red Heart 16 oz for the bedspread I've got about 1/4 finished.
