Built me a wee campfire

Whilst Yvonne was in the shower I got a bit bored so I made myself a wee campfire.
Gathered some dry leaves and twigs, some dead branches lying on the ground and set fire to it with a lighter
It really did go up on flames very well.
The other night I made a fire with some dry leaves and a burning cigarette end. It smouldered for about 15 minutes and then I saw the first flame. Success.
I quite like making camp fires. It's good fun.
Problem is I sort of have to sit with it until it burns down a bit but that's ok because I can sit here and Mylot.
Do you like making camp fires?
Footnote. My fire with the cigarette end shows just how dangerous it could be if you fell asleep whilst smoking a cigarette, so take care.

There is a bit of an 'art' to making campfires or bonfires. We are currently trying to burn lots of tree limbs and trunks that were taken down along our back fence row. My husband had to stop cutting because we had so many piles to burn and with all the rain we had here, we lost a good week of days to burn.
It's serene to sit out late in the evening by a fire! Glad you have a nice myLot setting!

@Ineeddentures I agree with you. It's a nice and pleasant little sit by the fire to unwind at the end of the day.

@Ineeddentures That is good. We should get to unwind in retirement and do enjoyable things!

Unwind was the word I was looking for and couldn't find it. Seems to be happening quite a lot of late.

@Ineeddentures Since ours is in the incinerator the smoke does not bother any one, hopefully You are considerate that you wait for your neighbours to take their washing in

Oh yes very considerate. I wouldn't want Yvonne or me hanging washing out to dry and it coming in smelling of smoke.
So I wouldn't do that to anyone else's washing.
They all take washing in by 7pm so I have lots of time after that to play at fires

I do that at home as well.
But it's still good fun and leaves a nice smell and lots of smoke in the air.
But I have to wait until all the neighbours have taken their washing in when it's dry.

I like making campfires even though I have to be careful to make sure the fire is put out.

We do that at home. Well we used to until I got a wood burning stove put in my mancave.
The fires in the yard were much better in my humble opinion.

Poor Hamish.
Drawing his face for him on his head brought him to life. So sad when he passed away and became ashes.
You remembered Hamish!

Yes; I love it. In fact; I and one of my friends had once made a campfire just by the s it de of a jungle and spent the whole night there it was thrilling.

The Jungle.
Wow. That would be thrilling indeed.
What sort of animals were in the jungle.
I would be wary of Tigers, they bite

Oh well I had a large gin and tonic to drink. And I was posting on here. So it made sense to sit by the fire. When we barbecue we use a BBQ and when it's a campfire we use anything big and round and hollow made of metal lol.

Nothing quite like a real fireplace.
We have had central heating and no fireplace and it's not the same as it used to be in the olden days.
I have had a campfire every night we have been here. Don't see the point in not having one.

Yes it is, a fun size. Easy to control. Plus it's all they have here to build a fire in. We burned some sausages in it tonight. They burned really well. Gave off a nice glow. We cooked up one pack on the stove and they were horrible so we just chucked the other pack we had on the fire lol

I've actually never made a camp fire
- but I used to love playing with the charcoals in the bbq
. My dentist says she's quite good at making camp fires . . . said fruit trees do not burn well. Being in Southern CA, we can't make fires just anywhere
.

Put it on a bucket list of things to do.
We have had a lot of wild fires in Scotland of late so we have to be very careful. My fire was contained in what appears to be the actual wheel of an articulated lorry.

It's good to know that you had fun with the activity. We also make campfires during youth camp. We usually do it at venue near the beach. The youth enjoyed this kind of activity so much. We do it once in a year.

I think everyone who goes camping enjoys a campfire the whole world over.
We are away from home quite a lot during the summer months so it's fair to say that I make a few camp fires every year.

Me too Eva.
It I spend more time going getting more sticks and branches to burn than I do sitting at the fire.
I should build up a stock of sticks first but I never do.

It really is great sitting beside an open camp fire. Even better close to the house. Great for using the toilet lol

It really is magical. Infact nothing else is quite like it. We collect all the wood so it's even more fun. It burned well into the night. And we even fed it with some sausages we didn't like. Oh they burned well and gave off a nice beefy smell.
