May Day!! It’s Thurby, which means LEAVE TOWN. The people come in, and I go out! I’m sure that’s true of a lot of places. My doctor told me she used to live across the street from Grant Park in Chicago, where Lollapalooza was held every year, and she had to escape that weekend. So, if you like piña coladas and getting caught in the rain (don’t worry, that was 1979), I’ll leave town and leave you a song from 50 years ago to enjoy while I travel.
All That You Dream - Little Feat
Never heard of it, right? Well, in 1975, I was listening to top 40 radio, so I hadn’t heard of it, either. Then, a couple of years later, I discovered FM rock and this band. It’s been a consistent love affair since.
Actually, there are two places that you may have heard this. One is Linda Ronstadt’s 1978 cover. If you listen closely, you’ll hear Ronstadt singing backup here. No wonder she covered it. Anyway, the other is the closing scene of The Sorpranos. When Tony walks into the diner, “All That You Dream” is playing.
Don’t worry, there are lots of hits from 1975. This is one that, to me, should have been a hit.
All That You Dream
Written by Billy Payne and Paul Barrére
Recorded by Little Feat
From The Last Record Album, 1975

I saw them at the Rainbow in London when they opened for the Who in the seventies.

Why, thank you! Interesting you’d say that, because I was visiting a lot of history of Welsh miners today.

I read about Graeme “Shirley” Strachan when I did that series on musical aviation fatalities last year, and it talked about how the Skyhooks were considered “outrageous” because Australia came so late to the “rock and roll wild party.” So it’s no real surprise that the national radio played classical music all the time.

@FourWalls They still do. They leave it to the commercial stations to play everything else.

@FourWalls yes, her earlier work must have been more exciting than sopranos.

@FourWalls I agree that Waiting for Columbus is one of the great live albums in history.
