Finally Got At It

The lawn has been a bit of an area of contention lately, fighting with rain, contractors, and away time. The front grows slower, for whatever reason, and takes longer to get out of hand. The back on the other hand quickly becomes a literal jungle. I haven't been able to get it done with the frequency I prefer, and I prefer a nice, well-kept lawn. Part of the issue with the back was due to contractors we hired to stain the deck, and they had all our stuff strewn across the back lawn for a spell, and cutting around it would have been...ridiculous. It was wet and rainy all day yesterday, but it simply had to be done. So, I got at it yesterday and feel much better that it's cut, finally, even if I had to go real slow even though I had the rider. Today, hopefully I can get the front done.

I actually enjoy doing yard work, and look forward to it each week. And yes, in Florida, it's every week all year long (the grass never stops growing here). I always consider it my "me" time. And, I love how nice the yard looks when I am done.

@porwest My back is so toast now that it doesn't matter what I am doing, it's harder on my back. Hell, just getting out of bed in the morning is hard on my back! lol

I still enjoy it as well, although a lot of it is much harder on my back these days than it ever was before. Still, it has to be done, and I don't like when things are not right.

@moffittjc I have the same problem. Cervical radiculopathy that led to arthritis. No cure, and can't do much about the pain and stiffness. It is what it is at this point.

I'm so glad I found someone to cut our lawn.

@porwest I used to like to cut the grass with the rider; but that was years and years ago.

@LindaOHio I am sure there will come a time for me when mowing at all is out of the question for me.

Ever since I got the rider, I can get most of it done with it, and it's made cutting the grass much easier. What was making it harder was this damn back of mine. I ALMOST at one point hired someone.

I was hoping to cut the grass today but it's raining... not torrentially as it was the other day, so if it stops RIGHT NOW! it might be dry enough by mid-afternoon.

It was raining a lot yesterday too but I finally gave in. It just had to be done come hell or high water.

@porwest Sure, sure... your mower has water wings?

@BarBaraPrz Nah. But it's a rider, so it can handle more than say, a push one.

Lawns always look good when they're freshly mown although that isn't always so with the first mow after a long spell.

Yeah, if you wait too long, it kind of makes a mess of the whole lawn. I try to avoid that as best I can. It's a little better for me since I always mulch the grass. But this last pass was a bit "clumpy."

Why can’t those pesky weeds, vines, etc. just disappear and never return?

my ex is meticulous about the lawn. He will mow it twice a week in summer. Edges it. Everything.

I'm mostly like that too. I just feel better when it's all prim and proper, for whatever reason.
