So, I had picked out something for Mother's Day on Amazon that I really liked. I had it in my cart, yesterday the price doubled on that and another item I had my eye on. Today, they were both 4.00 more! No, Thanks, and sorry mom but not paying. It is probably mostly due to the proximity to the big day, but most certainly the tariffs had something to do with it. I picked out another item. Have the tariffs impacted you yet?

I´m lately sticking to produce from my country. I decided that as there were so many good things here, I would not spend extra on imported luxuries. I said good bye to my Jack Daniels and to delicious pancake syrups.

@snowy22315 Here JD costs about US $ 20 or more while you can get a good Scotch for US $ 6. I prefer JD but I´ll buy Scotch until things settle down.

I made it a point to know my prices on groceries and such...our coffee here has gone way up. I see some other prices have risen as well here...fruits, some produce, olive oil, and cocoa/chocolate items. Some of our dairy has gone way up as well.

I knew it was going to rise, so I bought olive oil while it was still relatively affordable. Luckily, our grocery store had coffee on special. with a cash back reward for buying it.

@snowy22315 I bought extra olive oil and coffee, as well as cocoa powder. I use those things a lot, and if they go up as much as anticipated, I know I will be glad I have them. If they don't go up, they will keep just fine until I use them up. As has been said, I can live without a lot of things, but coffee isn't one of them.

Yes as of now it doesn't seem like we are instantly impacted. Because I think the India US trade relations are good and the tariffs imposed are not for India to that proximity as far as I have read. But lately I haven't read the tariff rates imposed. So I am not sure exactly how far the extra rates will go. Moreover, this isn't a particular buying period for us because it will be only after a couple of months that the festive season will start in India. And it runs almost until the end of November. That's why it is likely that we will have some extra amounts to pay when various festivals once start rolling.

@abhi_bangal Yes, well we have to trade with somebody. Canada was a good friend to us too, but of course Trump has insulted them, and has a tariff on them as well.

@snowy22315 Hahaha... Yeah. Because we (US and India) are good friends. That's why there's trade as usual between us. The problem lies somewhere else. That's why we are sailing smooth.

They haven’t affected me that I’ve noticed, but I don’t buy a lot of stuff. I need to get a new shredder, and I guess I’d better order it before a $50 shredder turns into a $100 shredder.

It would be a good idea! Too bad you aren't closer, I would sell you a shredder I never use for $10.

Here we have noticed them for a couple of months already. The fresh produce was the first to be noticed not on the shelves of grocery stores as people were boycotting buying them and they were literally rotting on the shelves. That has evened out now, and they just offer a much smaller supply of them. It is too bad that we all have to experience this, I cannot fathom how it is benefitting anyone there or here.

They are harmful on n so many levels Store shelves are likely to be in the same shape as during the pandemic, and what is available will cost more

@snowy22315 What I find that hurts me the most is when I hear other shoppers asking for items, and then when the store staff help them, they will scoff that it HAS TO BE a Canadian product, or anything BUT made in America. There is no need for that mentality. People need to be civil.

I think it's because of the tariffs and most stuff sold by Amazon is imported from other countries.

Likely, I just read some people are boycotting Amazon until May 12 due to higher prices.

For sure they will. Certain foodstuffs are skyrocketing...and Amazon has raised prices substantially.

I feel you. I can definitely tell the difference between 10 years ago and now, or even between a year ago and now. And our salaries are not even improving.
