Tonight's Dinner Is Very Questionable

I might even side with our @NJChicaa and deliver my own puke faces on this one. Fair is fair, right, and this one is completely off the cuff and entirely "outside the box." I can tell you, it won't even come close to my infamous 4th of July casserole, and we won't even discuss it, even though it actually tasted quite good. But Gordon Ramsay would have shot me, nonetheless. Okay, so I had some taco shells I wanted to use, so I crushed them up and put them into a mixing bowl. Next up, I browned some ground beef and added that. I added in a jar of salsa. Some frozen corn. I cut up an onion and half a red pepper and threw that in. I cut up a Roma tomato and threw that in. Then I added a packet of taco seasoning and mixed it all up into a mixture and put it all into a baking dish. Before I take it out, I will add some shredded cheddar cheese to top it off and then we'll serve it with a dollop of sour cream. Puke faces or good eats? I'd like to know. By the way, the picture is the "casserole" without the cheese added. What's going on your dinner table tonight? I pray to God, and I am an atheist, that what's going on your table is better than what's going on ours. But we might need God on this one. lol

The casserole doesn’t look bad to me. I’d try it. And it’s Gordon Ramsay actually.

I'm sorry but I wouldn't try this one... I can usually see how you made what you've cooked but... Sorry...

@porwest Normally, I don't have a problem with foods you make but that one didn't sound very good to me. Edit to add: My first wife burned me out on Mexican foods when she was pregnant with Pretty. I usually only eat a burrito once in a great while.

I was quite surprised, but it actually turned out very delicious. Basically, it was a taco casserole. Like I told our friend Chicaa, if my eyes were closed, I'd have sworn I was eating a burrito.

@DaddyEvil Two things I am not sure it is possible for me to burn out on...Mexican and Chinese. They are my #1 and #2 favorite cuisines with Chinese taking first place and Mexican taking second.

I'm thinking that this may have turned out quite delicious. Whenever I come across taco bars, I don't usually make tacos with the ingredients, but instead pile all the ingredients onto my plate and mix it up, sort of like a taco salad. It tastes just as good as a taco, but I get more on my plate than I would putting everything inside a taco shell. Your approach reminds me of that. Although casserole style, you can still slop as much as you want onto your plate.

@porwest I would have never thought of doing it the way you did it, but it does make sense now the more you think about it. In fact, a taco casserole seems to be a perfectly legit way of making a taco-like meal.

My thoughts exactly. Heck, we make these taco salad bowls with these forms you put flour tortillas in, toss them in the oven, and bake till their crispy, and I'll put all my stuff in and crush the whole thing and mix it all together like that. So, yeah, that's basically what this mainly reminded me of as well. I guess when I was first putting it all together I thought, "Well, this seems weird," even though, in hindsight, it doesn't really strike me as weird as I first thought. lol

It sounds better than the 4th of July slop casserole but not by much. Poor Wifey.

It was actually very delicious. Like someone else suggested, much like a taco casserole. If my eyes were closed, I might have thought I was eating a burrito. Wifey actually enjoyed it very much. I have to admit, when I was putting it together, I wasn't sure. But like I said, it was delicious.

I´m on a diet as you know. But still that is not my kind of casseroles. Keep your fingers crossed.

I can eat casseroles of any kind. Plus, they're right up my alley on the dollars and cents side since you can put practically anything into a casserole, and it's a great way to use up leftovers. Soups can sometimes be that way as well.
