Little bits of memories for Mother's Day

As a child we always picked a red rose to pin on our dress or shirt to signify our mom was alive.
As an elementary kid I saved up odds and ends of change so that I could buy a rose bush at the grocery store. It was potted in a gallon can. I do not remember a variety but it was supposed to be a variegated red and white.
More than once I remember after mom had fed us Sunday Dinner we all got in the car and took her plant shopping. One time, maybe more, was when she and Dad were still married. Another one I remember was after she was divorced. We sisters got together and took mom to a large nursery to shop.
There are other memories, but that is surely enough. How about you? What do you remember?

Those are wonderful memories, You know it is funny but while my dad was around up to when I became ten and he passed I do not remember Mother's Days except for cards we made at school, However, once I grew up I do remember on Mother's Days buying my mom great big bunches of carnations in all kinds of colors, She loved carnations,

Luckily, my mom is still alive so I remember many plesant Mother's Days. I remember taking my grandmother out to eat, and also going to see mum's at a place called the mum tower.

Such nice memories. We always had a family dinner on Sundays and just enjoyed getting together. I remember one year in particular, I made my mom a card. I wrote a verse and drew something I don't recall. I was so proud to give it to her. She put it up on the mirror in the entryway so everyone would see it coming in. What a delight!

Anything to do with plants and/or gardening was always a winner with my Mum too. She loved her garden.

You have sweet memories of Mother's Day.
I remember getting a written note from my Dad so that I could leave the school yard at lunch time to walk downtown to go to the florist and pick up some roses for my mother for Mother's Day. I couldn't afford many, sometimes it was just a single. Then I would sneak it into the house after brining it home on the bus. I would just go next door to my Gramma's and she would let me hide it there.
