Do you ever stumble on cool songs you had not heard before? Do you remember the band REM?

By the time the '80s rolled around I was already on "old man " My musical tastes were pretty well-established, and I could not fully resonate with bands like Big Country, Tears for Fears, and Fun Boy Three..Heck, I was in my mid-20s. But I did discover a couple of new bands that moved me a bit. One was Dire Straits, and another was REM.
As @FourWalls would attest, Mark Knopfler's guitar leads for Dire Straits are reminiscent of Richard Thompson's leads as a solo musician. Good stuff. And REM had some really good harmonies. They may have been influenced by bands like The Byrds and the Eagles.
Anyway, I recently stumbled on this REM song. I don't know what year it's from, but I like it. Had you heard this song? Do you like it? Everybody hurts sometimes.
Yep.

@TheHorse straigth from the Internet
"Everybody Hurts" is a song by American rock band R.E.M. from their eighth studio album, Automatic for the People (1992), and released as a single in April 1993 by Warner Bros.

I think what resonates with any of us is what we listened to in our teens. For me, yah, it's the 80s stuff
(yet I do have a much broader range than that). I could see why Dire Straits and REM might better grab your attention. Oh yes, I know that song . . . but somehow I am thinking that's from the 90s

Almost every song they ever did is really good.
REM were huge here.
Out of Time and Automatic for the People are my 2 fave REM albums.

Yes, I recall REM. Good tunes. I don't find most you mention familiar to me at all. I enjoy The Beach BOys, Mamas and the Papas, and such.
