Purty and boring

The photo should show the back of my house and its pretty new roof. A couple of months ago I got more than irritated when I saw that the house insurance rates had gone up. i signed up with the folks who insure our car. Saved money then got the notice that they would not insure us due to our cruddy roof. I informed them that we were getting the roof replaced. They informed me that they must have photo proof. I emailed this photo. I have not heard back from them whether they will accept us now. Or not. It's another cloudy this side of rainy day today. My side yard has delightfully long quack grass growing. I pulled the battery powered mower out of the shed and yay! it had power so I trimmed the lawn into respectablity. That part, anyway. Other news: hubby and I talked. Discussed. Gardening buddy needs work. Like all of us, she needs to pay bills and eat. We decided we can afford to pay her 5 hours a week worth. Not just lawn work but stuff like getting lumber for hubby's gardening bed project and maybe get some light bulbs into ceiling fixtures. On we go through this Saturday. I hope your Saturday is filled with jolly fun.

Have you tried Farmers? When I was looking for car insurance they gave me the lowest rate and all I wanted was the liability which isn't all that cheap anymore and then I added on my Mobile Home ins, it's a heck of a lot cheaper than those other agencies.

@rebelann Farmers is what I had for house insurance. It went up to over 2 thousand dollars. I use Progressive for my car. I bundled car and house and saved 700 dollars.

@sallypup I have Progressive for homeowners. They were 1,000 less than my previous company

@wolfgirl569 Thanks. I love having green space and gardens around me. I knew as I got older I would need hired help. I am fortunate I found this person- she knows tons about flowers and isn't just a lawn mower.

The roof looks good! I hope they insure you again. It's cloudy and nasty looking outside and the wind is flexing on the trees in the backyard.

@sallypup Pretty and I just made supper. I'm reading/responding on myLot while I eat mine. Fried chicken, mashed potatoes and fried green beans. Thanks... Tornados go around my city so we should be fine.

@DaddyEvil We are just back from a short walk to the shed to inventory our boards. Hubby wants to make another garden box. Whoa on the gusting winds. I hope you don't get tornadoes like Saint Louis did.

@DaddyEvil Fried green beans and fried chicken. That sounds so very Southern. I bet it was tasty.

State Farm cancelled our policy on our rental home (our old home) when they saw the roof needed to be replaced and the grass had gotten too long. I hope the insurance company will accept your new roof.

Your gardening buddy sounds good value especially if she can do a few odd jobs as well.
