I’ve written about doing some repairs on the balustrading at our niece’s place. We are house-sitting there and thought it would be nice to fix the balustrading before they got back.
We’ve finished now apart from a coat of paint which we’ll do tomorrow. It was much more difficult than we thought. First of all, six uprights were missing and we had to make new ones. Then, getting the uprights into the top horizontal board was very difficult. You’d no sooner get two uprights in place than three would fall out. It was becoming very frustrating but in the end, we laid the whole thing flat on a table and assembled it that way. There was a side section too but that only needed one upright replacing.
In the photo, the balustrading looks quite high but it’s only about waist height. Vince’s brother helped and we’re all very pleased with our efforts. We're painting it the same colours.

I have had projects like that that were challenging. This will be a nice surprise when your niece gets back.

We haven't heard for a few days. He is still getting rid of some belongings and trying to find a place to live. Thanks for asking.

Looking good.
Things falling apart when you're trying to fix them is never a good thing.
