What a Day!

Yesterday turned out to be an absolutely picture-perfect day. It was not too warm, and carried with it a nice breeze, and of course, no rain. Normally on a Saturday the wife and I run around and do various errands or just find fun stuff to do. But yardwork was terribly behind, mostly hindered by lots of rain or just not right days, so we decided that it was time to get caught up. And get caught up we indeed did. We got the gutters, lined with sprouting maple trees, cleaned out in the front. Serious trimming and weed whacking were done. We cut the front, back and side hill. We got the marigold seeds in their pots. All the flower pots were put out and yard decorations put in their proper places. We trimmed back the bushes and little trees on the front landscaping. Later on, we built a little fire and sat around that for a bit, talking about our day and Sunday plans. And then to top it off, I fired up the grill and made hamburgers. What a day! Perfect and productive. What more could I have asked for?

We had rain off and on yesterday so I only went outside to check the mail. Other than strong winds, we never saw any really bad weather here. (The Weather Channel is still showing severe weather possible here.) I've been slowly working on the flowerbed in front of the house. I'm pulling up all the flavored mint Pretty planted in it two years ago. (She planted chocolate mint at one end of the bed and regular mint at the other end.) We didn't know they'd take over the bed. When they mixed, both kinds started burning my mouth. I told her she could buy one kind of mint and plant it in the forest at the end of the yard. If it takes over in there, I won't mind and if it comes into the back yard, it can be mowed just like the grass back there.

Yeah, best to plant mint in a pot, not letting it go free range.

@BarBaraPrz I wish somebody had told us that before it got away from us.

Yeah, the storms seem to move through St. Louis, Perryville and the Ste. Genevieve areas. We didn't get much and we're only about 20 minutes from St. Louis. Basically went right past us...of course, that was Friday. Saturday was quiet and clear as a bell.

Ya'll had a busy day and accomplished a lot and then topped the day off right with a backyard BQ!

Sounds good. I just managed to get my grass cut before it decided it might like to rain, again. Not too promising today, windy and cool 14°C/55°F.

You can't ask for much more than that.
